I am gladly proven wrong. I think we are seeing a different Momota in the finals today. Confident, fast, agressive, clinical, not giving away points too easy. Koki on the other hand seems pretty lost.
Of course. Kento Momota is such a gem of a human being. His interviews are always pleasant to watch Personally i am very very happy for Momota.
I think current Momota could easily challenge and VA, hope this win will give him so needed confidence boost, but yes very strange ss300 tournament in Korea with no spectators...
Yes, Kento Momota definitely showing glimpses of his former glorious self when I watched him play and defeat Lei Lanxi in emphatic fashion despite a close G2 yesterday, and today in the final , he didn't disappoint beating his young compatriot Koki Watanabe for the title. Right, KM is now fluid and fast in movement, more proactive, anticipating well, significantly more aggressive in attack and sharp in defense here; overall, his physicality has improved considerably, looking leaner and fitter, and it shows in his ability to play one quality shot more than his opponent, which he has the knack of doing in his heyday, is back more or less. Whether the Momota we know and his undying fans are hoping to see is back for good is still a bit too early to say, his age 29 notwithstanding. A good sign nevertheless.
Are you being serious? He's just played his 8th mach in 8 days and had a narrow win against a meh opponent. It already is a great achievement looking at the year(s) he's had so far, and a win against Gemke tomorrow would imo be a surprise, rather than a given. Challenge Axelsen, let alone "easily"? I doubt it.
