At the moment, no chance for momota to win in sudirman cup or asian championship. Let nishimoto and naraoka play the ms.
Neither Momota nor Okuhara have entered for the Badminton Asia Championships. Here, it does not need to be underscored that they could do with some extra points. And whilst I was thinking that a retirement announcement would shortly be made, at a press conference held today to publicise this year's Japan Open, Momota categorically stated that he was aiming to compete in the Paris OG.
seems like a far-fetched prospect for both Okuhara an Momota. They're not in great shape (form & rankings) and they're not taking part in tournaments to help their cause either.
yes that must be it, there must be a maximum of 3 Japanese (even if last year there were 4 Japanese, https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...d=10685997-DC20-41A7-A871-7917A79C4FE5&draw=5) and in this case, one of the 3 other Japanese would have to withdraw so that Momota can participate there is the list : https://www.badmintonasia.org/tourn...t-calendars/badminton-asia-championships-2023
Thanks for the information. The NBA has not yet announced the list of participants, and I couldn't find Momota's name on the Badminton Asia site M & Q list. (The excel file does not show the list of reserves). Okuhara's BWF ranking, however, would have placed her in the main draw. The fact that she is not listed means that she has not entered. This is a fairly ominous sign.
Momota is in the list of the pdf file that you can download by following the link "Player's Eligibility List ( 11th April 2023)" there : https://www.badmintonasia.org/tourn...t-calendars/badminton-asia-championships-2023
Nope. 4 max can play per country after all of the iterations of choosing qualified players but of course it still depends on their rankings relative to other players. In this case, Momota literally just missed the straight qualification (he was ranked 23 at the eligibility date) but is first on the reserve list so assuming someone (anyone, doesn't have to be JPN) withdraws and he still makes the trip to Dubai, he will be able to play.
Unfortunately, he won't. He is not on the players' list, as published today by the NBA. https://www.badminton.or.jp/playersInfo/docs/haken_AsiaChampionships_20230413.pdf
I like the small jog after he scored. He often does that when he is confident Envoyé de mon SM-S918B en utilisant Tapatalk
The Korea Badminton Association is streaming the matches on their YouTube channel. Momota's match is the first match in the video below. Naraoka also played yesterday on another court. Poke around and you'll find it. It seems like the channel will also live stream the second day matches today. https://www.youtube.com/live/Z1H9wFV6lEc?feature=share

Momota's match from the second day (first match in the video). He lost the first game and was 6-12 down in the second game but somehow managed to pull off a 10 points run to take the second game and the match. He looked frustrated at the beginning of the second game. I'm not sure what to make of this. On the one hand, it's good to see that he didn't give up and managed to turn it around, but, on the other hand, the opponent, Lee Yun Gyu, is only ranked 176th in the world and doesn't have any noticeable achievement thus far. The men team took the three singles for a 3-2 win on the second day.
LYG has one noticeable achievement, he beat LKY at the Asia mixed team championships earlier this year.
