Lakshya Sen working on strength and endurance on court. Will reduce his junior events and start playing more IS and IC events meant for seniors.

    Link: https://thefield.scroll.in/839352/i...d-no-1-lakshya-sen-is-ready-for-the-big-stage

    Excerpt:
While I am playing my opponent, it doesn’t really matter whether he is 18 or 28,” he said. “I play to win. It doesn’t matter how old he is. I have played against some guys in their thirties. I won against some, lost against some.”

A regular day for Sen has him waking up at 5.15 in the morning and going off to Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium for agility training at 6 am. After that, he trains on court for three hours, followed by a two-hour gym session in the afternoon, or vice versa.

    Focus on strength
“Nowadays, I am focussing more on my strength, so I have more of gym sessions than court,” he said. “Vimal Sir has decided to cut down on court sessions and focus more on gym. I am still growing, and I feel I need a little more strength and stamina to match the higher-level players. There, everyone is fit and has a big smash, good leg strength. I am focussing on becoming strong. The game part will take care of itself.”

BAI proposes to dissolve Pullela Gopichand's National Coach position

    https://www.sportskeeda.com/badmint...ssolve-the-gopichands-national-coach-position

    Excerpts:

    What’s the story?
Out of the many proposed changes to the Constitution of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), one alteration seeks to remove the post of the National Coach and put a panel of Coaches for a two-year period in place of it. The proposal further clarifies that no members of the panel will be entitled to hold any positions as an office bearer in BAI and its member associations, and it could possibly lead to Chief National coach Pullela Gopichand stepping down considering that the position itself would be dissolved.

    The context
According to the current protocol by the Constitution, a National Coach has a tenure of four years. Gopichand has held this position since 2006, assisted by a team of coaches along with being the secretary of Telangana Badminton Association. Badminton has evidently come to emerge as a very popular sport in India under his leadership.

Gopichand has been unmistakably responsible for shaping an entire generation of promising badminton players in the country.

I just watched Sai uttejitha rao chukka's video. She has all the strokes but a total let down in her physicality. She could not even walk properly . How come coaches did not notice it still when we are able to notice that in just a video.

She need to hit the gym.

National Coach has too many responsibilities to the point of being overloaded.
National coach is in charge of entire domestic circuit from junior to senior level and international players. This is not done in any powerhouse nation.

1.There is a clear advantage to players based in Hyderabad. They have access to Tan Kim Her, Mulyo Handoyo and a team of National coaches.
2.Players from the other states, in particular North Zone, North East, East Zone get less opportunities. They feel neglected.
3.In a large country like India one National Training Centre is not enough. Each zone needs a National training centre.
4.A lot of talent is not getting high level coaching and are thus making other career choices.

Gopichand has done a lot of good work. The following go against him apart from having too much workload and responsibilities.
1.Doubles was neglected until 1.5 years ago when Tan Kim Her was brought in after severe media criticism.
    2.Players outside Hyderabad are neglected.

A panel of National Coaches is not a bad idea to help more talent across India get quality coaching.

BAI will debate and vote on June 11, 2017. We have to wait and see the exact details of the final proposal and what gets approved.

PV Sindhu taking a break in USA. It's good to take a break but now she has hardly any preparation time for Indonesia SSP.

Thailand GPG 2017 India take 1 Title! :)

    MS Champion Sai Praneeth
    Praneeth
performed to potential though he was slow to up his game. His strategy of smashing directly at Jonatan wasn't working. If he watched Srikanth Kiambi, he would have noticed body smashes were rare. I am sure he will learn and have a better strategy in place. He has stern tests coming up at Indonesia and Australia. BAI President announces 3 lakh prize money.

Saina Nehwal played as expected, though it was difficult to watch her struggle with movement. It was unfortunate that her match had so many bad line calls. We have to be patient as she regains her strength, fitness and confidence. Expect her to lose in early rounds.

cut her some slack. She deserves it. She took break as she wasn't participating in SCG Thai GPG anyway. And there's still a week for INA open, I believe she'll do just fine.
Besides her draw isn't the most difficult, Pornpawee C is a tricky R1 and so is BZ for R2 but I am sure, she's ahead of that phase now and won't find any difficulty.
Possibly SY in QF her recent performances doesn't work in her favor and everything goes well, we'll be treated with yet another PVS vs CM clash. They're playing a lot against each other lately.

Yeah that's a great news. Although I wish they had AP/Satwik together before SC. One bird in hand better then two in bushes.
    Anyways hope for the best
