China gets a Premier of premier and a PSS. Japan and France are now PSS. Thailand is upgraded to SS.
Alas no change for IND SS.
When are they going to implement it? The Ranking point system changes too?

She sure does like to kill her opponents, look at the shorelines, always.
But wait Jr IS? Even the Jr level competition have tier based tourneys?

Purva is gaining valuable exposure and experience.
Yes, They have Junior IS, IC and GP tournaments. Have to see if BWF has changed the structure for 2018.

India Open SS 2017 India take 1 Title! :)

    WS Champion PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu had a fairytale tournament and won the India SS with flair. Sindhu's match with Saina Nehwal in the quarterfinal was special. She dribbled at the net and was lethal with her smashes. In the past she avoided the net dribble with top 10 players. Saina Nehwal is improving with every tournament and it is just a matter of time before she plays like a top 5 player. In the final PV Sindhu was dictating the pace. While I was concerned with some of her clears which were too high and gave Marin the opportunity to control the pace. In the end she played the crucial points better and Marin crumbled under pressure.

Excerpt: "The work that Sindhu has been doing with the newly-appointed Indonesian coach Mulyo Handoyo was very much evident during the final. A highly improved forecourt game from the Indian also took the Olympic gold medallist by surprise, who was simply not given a chance to find any rhythm.
The repeated forays into the net were noticeable even in her blockbuster quarter-final match against the former champion and senior compatriot Saina Nehwal. The confidence that she has acquired in that area of her game enabled her to push Marin to the back of the court time and again and finish points at the net before the lefty could even come back.
Sindhu never relented from attacking and the precision in her shots was the foundation of her success today."

I am guessing after Srikanth's crushing defeat, he probably wanted a break to reflect and train before rushing to another tournament. Srikanth is supposed to play in Singapore SS, have to see if he plays or pulls out.
    Prannoy is taking a break.

I am not entirely surprised by Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu's early exits. We have to remember Saina is returning from surgery and she will take time before she plays like a top 5 player. Saina should be ready for the World Championships in August. We will see a different Saina. In the meantime we have to see her lose to players.

PV Sindhu had the opportunity to win in 2 games. She lost concentration and let the match slip. She will take time to become consistent. She still has the habit of struggling with lower ranked players. I am not worried about Sindhu. She will come back strong in another tournament. She is going to get better and stronger with each tournament.

My concern is SN not winning much and starting as unseeded player in WC.
Not that I don't have believe in her but being unseeded means having a draw like the ongoing MO
Every WS player can take at least a game off each other, and pilled up 3 setters can result into say a QF finish what could've been a SF

Exactly 1 hour 10 mins. Lindan was pulled into this time frame. Sai would have got a chance had he not allowed LD to get a huge lead in the starting of game 3. I am happy that he showed his performance. But unfortunate, he is still out of 30 rank

In the current BWF rankings, there are 12 indian MS players in Top 100 rankings, most numbe/r than any other country.

Ajay Jayaram played well against Viktor A in India SS as well. It was a tight 2 games. A nice surprise to see him win, let's see how far he goes!

PV Sindhu is assured of being World No.2 for one week. Rankings will change after Malaysia SSP and again after Singapore SS.

After so many years non-participation of indian players in China Masters, this time they have decided to give a try. I have seen some of indian juniors participating in the upcoming china masters next week.
Harsheel dani, Ujati rao chukka, krishnapriya kudaravalli, satwik/Chirag. Nobody is going to judge them. They have to play freely and gain valuable learning experience.
