Why Park Sung Hwan? Why not Lee Hyun Il? What happen to him?
Btw, Jung Jae Sung played MXD? I think it should be either Lee Yong Dae or Lee Jae Jin... Both can play either MXD or MD...

There's a rumour that Hyun-Il was quit from KOR National Team due his shock exit at 1st Round KOR SS against MAS Lee Tsuen Seng with straight-set (21-17 ; 21-8). And of course KOR Manager was very angry about this embarrassing result. I had read this info from one article in BOLA Tabloid last February.

KOR MD & XD is really flexible, no problem for them who-paired-who as we know so far. The promising star Lee Young-dae was absent from several SS tourneys, didn't know whether he was still recovered from ankle injury or another reason.

Are national bodies really that volatile, and can coaches really react like that and still be effective? It's not like there were loads of players challenging for LHI's position, he was way ahead of his teammates. If everyone who suffered a shock exit was dropped from their team there'd be no-one left to play!

I've just booked time off work to go to Glasgow, should be good!

i think you're being too pessimistic here.

Boonsak has a good chance to beat LD, since he beat him in the IO.

Sudket/Saralee also managed to beat the CHN pair in the IO, which means the match will be closer than you think.

so a 2-3 win for CHN is quite possible, unfortunately still a loss for THA though! :D

I don't think Thailand will use full force against China, they maybe prepare more for the meeting against Malaysia. Cause they had better chance to beat Malaysia then to beat China.

At least they can assured one win from MX against Malaysia.

I hope the tournament will not be a farce. Say China gets upstaged by either Malaysia, England or Thailand, and only qualify as runnersup of their group. What would happen to the other group's ties? Can we confirm that the final group ties are played simultaneously so that there is no hanky-panky involved?

In the 1992 Thomas Cup, Malaysia (who was expected to be group champions) lost 2-3 to Prof Park's gang and finished 2nd behind Korea in their group.

In the other group the following day, China and Indonesia "battled out" not to win their group, but for the right not to meet Malaysia in semis. China used their reserve players, but Indonesia "won" by using doubles players as singles and two singles players making up a pair.

Eventually, both China and Indonesia lost to Malaysia anyway.

These sort of things are bound to happen once in a blue moon in any competition. I suppose it's not so bad if it can only happen during the preliminary stage.

This year winner is obvious, China.
The Great Wall of Women are just too strong and will compensate any silly lost by the men.

BUT who is going to get promoted to Gp 1 and who going to get relegated is interesting.

Also, who will be the top 4 in group 1 but we already know for sure China will be in top 4 and eventually win it.

Group 2 is very interesting too.
    It can go any way.

Wow!! The showdown starts early for MAS and INA . Lose the 1st game and all we can hope for is to stay in Group 1.

Time for both teams to show what they are made of!!!

No offence, but your Thai vs Eng predictions are very optimistic... I'm not a particularly big English fan (except may be MX) but it's kinda straight forward Eng will win 4-1

    MS: Boonsak over Smith
WS: Hallam over Boonsak's sister ?
    MD: Clarke/Blair
    WD: Emms/Kellog
    MX: Robertson/Emms

Not much doubt in any of the matches, except for maybe MX cos Thai pair is genuinely good, but Emms/Robertson has been them time n time again in opens..

With all countries used almost the same players as the Thomas and Uber Cup 2006 players (except for malaysia MD KKK/TBH), it will no doubt China will win again.

They convincingly won 3-0 for Uber and Thomas. And they will win 3-0 or worst 3-1 in final except the men part play very bad and gave up 3 point.
