Cramp. She played last night in the Denmark open, won it, and today she retired in the round of 16 again
well she cannot get some dose before the match, it is illegal to do so and it could make her get banned for life...
are you talking about today's match with Saena Kawakami? It's not just stamina .. she probably lost more from unforced errors than anything. On the first set.. too many errors.. and in the third set.. both stamina and errors took their toll Also, notice she's always completely worn out by the 3rd set of any game? she looked absolutely exhausted The only good takeaway from this game was, that there were more flashes of her old brilliance than ever before...
yeah. she's good. I saw her when she was 8yo. She is second to none. So, with her health issue, its tough to come back. She needs to win in 2 games. This means, she need speed to kill off quickly and not rallying too much. She cannot last 3 games. Period. Too bad. I also want to see her make top 10 if possible.
so sad that she lost in the finals of the Vietnam Open. It was hers to lose. Injury issues still haunting her. Keep trying girl!!!
Your post from March this year. Goh Jin Wei seems to be on schedule according to predictions. All going well, she might be getting through some rounds of the WT300/500 tournaments by April next year.
leave it to Cheung to put in the proper and realistic perspective.... that's right....... reality...... and human frailties .... must not forget... she's got time anyway..
It's quite tough for her to really reach back to her peak. Having only 1 meal a day is really not enough for a high performing athlete. I do salute her for not giving up and coming back to the badminton scene because of her passion. Perhaps her coaches could have tweak her play style, so far from an observer point of view her style is the same, lob the ball high to base line or slice drop to the net & hardly smashes. Such play style is quite easy to predict and any top 10 opponent can easily use it against GJW.
Looks like the spectre of health issues will continue to haunt her into the new year....will she keep on trying?
I suggest she go on whatever operation she needs before coming back. Else it will be just demoralising
She already had surgery. And probably still taking medications. Her disease is difficult to control. Sent from my SM-G988W using Tapatalk
I think she had a total colectomy. That part of the body is involved in water reabsorption so she’s lost part of the ability to regulate her fluid balance. With more water loss, i think she will lose more electrolytes than a normal person. Add to that the requirements of top athletic performance, her body will have difficulty getting to the really high level performance, maintaining that level and slower recovery. On top of that, she has the medicines to control the disease. Definitely tough going and difficult for her.
If it had been detected and treated at an earlier stage, she may not have needed such a radical surgery. These days there are newer drugs like biologics that can better control the disease. Sent from my SM-G988W using Tapatalk
maybe this is a good, sample case where new sports minister Hannah Yeoh can step in and extend a lifeline.
She manage to get pass R32 before being beaten by ASY R16. It's difficult for her to really excel Super 500 competitions due to the presences of top players. No doubt she has the skill to beat top players, but she doesn't have the stamina or speed to do it
