thanks Thanks for your advice, yeah i cant afford contacts either, and i dont like wearing glasses due to the threat of them flying off my face, ahhaha. Hmm might have to see what i can do, lol.
so get one of the straps that attach to glasses and go round the back of your head to hold them in place
Or if you don't like those straps, then you can use a headband pulled low across the back of your head (like in the NBA) which sorts of pinches the back ends of the glasses ear holders. -dave
I wear regular glasses, with spring hinges and I find I normally don't need any extra support for my glasses. When I do play more competitively, I have these little soft rubber wraps that fit onto the arms and it helps to keep my glasses well secured. The only problem is that it also makes taking off my glasses a bit slower, when I have to wipe sweat away. These were given to me by one of my doubles partners from Taiwan, but I have yet to see them in stores here in Vancouver.
You have only two choices. You either wear corrective glasses or contacts or you carry on as you are. I don't see any real problem.

I use contact lens specifically for badminton only. With glasses, the scope of my view is limited to the size of the glasses but with contact lens, the viewing angle is enlarged. Also, I realized that my timing is always problematuc with glasses, but not with contact lens. So, I suggest that you get used to your contact lens.
i've been using glasses for the past 5 years and just recently switched the contact lenses 6 months ago. i switched because my glasses kept falling off and was real bothersome. at first, the contacts were buggin me, but then after a while i got used to it. i would really recommend that you play with contacts, whether you like it or not, just get used to it.
From a performance perspective - you can wear glasses. During the Commonwealth Games (mixed team badminton event), one of the Canadian mens doubles players (Milroy?, Bobby's brother) wore glasses.
yes i do! i have a couple pairs of oakley eyeglasses. most of them were dedicated for sports. on the other hand. for non oakley eyeglasses. i will use an "eyeglasses strap" to secure it from falling off.
Glasses to Prevent Injury . . . . . . I was hurt inithe eye sometime back playing mix doubles. Turned around to see what my partner was doing and she hit the birdie straight into my eye (right). Lucky the cork hit the eye . I actually had blurring for 2-3 days before it got OK. I was really considering wearing protective eye wear at that point. I have seen lots of squash and racquetball players use un-numbered protective eyewear. Purely fronthat perspective it may be better to wear spects rather than contacts during play. Wonder if anyone else got hit in the eye while playing particularly doubles?
I use Oakley glasses as well. the sprung hinges are great as they grip my head. I was thinking of getting a second pair so I can keep a pair for day to day use and have one pair for playing in. I dont think i could use contacts with having to mess about with my eye. If your like me try and get hold of some oakleys. They are expensive so have a look on ebay. Plenty of genuine sellers on there!
I have been wearing glasses since I was 10 and I wear them when I play badminton as well. However, I find them very inconvenience when I am engaging in intense games. I often have to use add on "hook" to stablize my glasses or wear something tight that won't move easily. I have try contacts but I did not like them because my eyes are somewhat sensitive to the materials used in contacts. So my only option is the wear glasses. So far I don't see the difference in terms of winning or loosing the games in badminton. However, I would like to try something that is more confortable and don't move as easy.
When I wear glasses to play, I get dizzy because I'm not use to it. Also I have to move my head more so lol.
Are they sweat repellant? How do you deal with sweat dripping all over the glass surface? Just curious.
I solve my problem by putting on a strap on my glasses. I think you can buy the strap from any optical shop.
Here in Singapore, you don't drip sweat, you pour sweat..... Anyway, good tactic to wipe the glasses - to review, restrategise and of cource to take a breather.......
