LXR took 1st game from Bae very easily. Bae looks like she doesn't want to be there. no fighting, and LXR very leisurely beat her 21-9
Li Xuerui beat Bae Yeon Ju 21-9 / 21-7. sorry but this is really not SSF material. looks like LXR is playing a qualifier. Bae is forever 1/2 second too slow to the shuttle and LXR is practically playing a practice match. very leisure while Bae dashes everywhere.
Glad to see no plethora of mistakes from LXR, esp the sliced drop shots that often finds the net. She plays such a fast-paced game at high intensity constantly keeping her opponent on her toes.
Exactly as kwun describes it, LXR playing at such speed and forcefulness to overwhelm Bae YJ who couldn't play her usual rallying and controlled game and instead was time and again forced to run all over the court, mostly reacting to LXR's shots whether in attack, defence or counterattack.
Bae YJ when up against WSX faces a different problem, out-rallied and out-smarted; when facing LXR at her best, she is under relentless pressure and constant threats, and can only react instinctively and hope for her opponent to err. If only...LXR can be that devastating, sharp and forceful, fast and furious, and maintain it throughout this tournament, then...the LXR I know is back !
Just back from stadium. Indeed KSH became the weakest link in the partnership. i don't think we should blame everything to him as Denmark targeted him from right the start. I think at a point in 2nd sets LYD completely ignored KSH. No communication at all, even no eye contact.
CHN lead 7-0 in one point during 3rd sets but KOR managed to regroup and chase up. overall is a high quality md match with many quality drives.
Hopefully replays will be uploaded as Bw.tv coverage is disappointing. Ko Lee have to beat Japanese pairs to get through now. Kim Kim with an important win for the second spot.
Liu/Qiu was in G3 leading most of the way until 15-12 when their game started to unravel. MD is, to me, no longer that enjoyable to watch, it's now all about keeping the shuttle down, don't lift, lots of fast flat pushes and quick exchanges, and smash, smash, smash.
Anyone see if the review system has been utilized yet? However even if they did I'm sure it is aired on the stream we are seeing now. I wonder if the view is available to the whole stadium or if the person on the laptops makes the call and tells the umpire his verdict.
