best chance to create history...but china tc failed to make it btw, congratz to china uc for create another history...13th Uber Cup titles
How I wish one day we all Bcers could watch an exciting match or final (like the just concluded TC) together and can talk and discuss why this, why that, what if until the cows come home. Any suggestions? Where and when is the next Thomas Cup being held?
China to host 2016 Thomas, Uber Cups http://www.newstrackindia.com/newsdetails/2014/05/28/231--China-to-host-2016-Thomas-Uber-Cups-.html
Yes, what a time to lost the cup. Even when i realized that China's TC domination can't last forever and there will come the time to lost it, just never expected it to happen now. What a chance they had. Still, congratulations to Japan who had prove they deserved as the champion of 2014 TC! As many of members have declared, it might bring more positive things to the development of badminton around the world.
China is really desperate to bring back the Thomas Cup trophy. Announced by BWF, the next Thomas-Uber Cup 2016 will be held Kunshan, China. Wonder will Japan retain the cup.
That being the Olympics 2016 in August, it's going to be interesting to see which gold most teams will be concentrating on.
We did that before, in 2008 in Jakarta. The exciting match then was the semifinal between China and Malaysia. 3-2 to China and similarly, Malaysia won 1st singles and 2nd doubles. And had a chance in the 3rd singles but Hafiz Hashim just couldn't take advantage of Chen Jin's injury.
Here is an interview with LYB after the 2014 TUC http://sports.qq.com/a/20140528/018303.htm There are some interesting things he mentioned in this article: _ LYB said that the Chinese SF lineup was not "ideal"(the word google used and he probably preferred to that fact that LXL/QZH were not playing). But he said that this was the only way for the team to grow as Chinese men team is replacing old players with younger ones. _ LYB believes that Chen Long is struggling and will "rebuild" him from inside out and outside in. _ LYB said that because the Chinese men team is going through this transition, he thought that they would not be able to defend the tittle. He said they will lose sooner or later and failures helps him find the problems. Despite all those harsh decisions and the match fixing/WOs controversies around LYB, I really think that he is talented in what he is doing now. I never see him being cocky and arrogant despite all of his achievements as far as I can remember (Please correct me if I'm wrong). And he accepts failure. No excuses, no blaming, no avoiding responsibilities. He just said "Ok, we lost, now we gotta learn and fix our problems". Not everyone can do that.
^ One thing about the Chinese team is that they're quite well spoken and tactful (eg. LYB, LD, CL, CY) ... and they're not afraid to take defeat in stride as part of the game.
both Chinese team defeats in recent times happened during period of transitions. 2010 Uber Cup saw the transition away from the 2008 Olympics Champions like Zhang Ning and Xie Xingfang, Yang Wei / Zhang Jiewen to the younger team of the Wang's.
