Just arrived in Shanghai this afternoon and in time to watch the Jung/Lee vs Fu/Cai's match on local telly.

It was painful to watch the CHN pair looking so exhausted even by the end of the second-set and not that excited when they actually had won the set, after coming back from 15-18 down to win it 21-19!

It turned out that they were really thrashed in the third-set, just like in the second-set of the AG match. This is certainly not a good sign for the CHN pair, despite being crowned World Champions for the third-time just 2 months ago. They should be really cursing their luck when they find out that they will face the KOR pair YET AGAIN next week, that is if the CHN pair does not withdraw!

With the qualification for the London Olympics looming closer and the fact that Fu/Cai have only played 6 tournaments (up to CHN SS) and the Thomas Cup Final, they certainly need to work extra hard to make sure they are among the top 8 MD pairs. Not to mention the huge points to defend from the Thomas Cup, WC 2010, Japan, and China Masters SS which they won this year.

Even if they qualify for the Olympics, remember that this time round, there will be a group stage where EACH PAIR will play at least 3 matches in the group before the knock-out round (QF, SF, F). We had seen how the CHN pair fumbled when they played continuous matches in Asian Games Team Event and then Individual Event. So, it will be a big test of their stamina and mental strength!
