CHINA International Challenge 2014 (Lingshui, 11-16 February 2014)

It sucked, big time. I only watch part of 1st set after they split up the teams.
 
I'd seen LCW played XD. He's actually pretty good. From this match, it looks like LD might not know how to play Doubles at all.
 
The one who impressed me in this tournament is Ka Long Ng. He is improving fastly it seems. Hope to see him in future in many tournaments. Good luck to him..:)

Lin Dan not used to be in doubles player, while LCW is very capable for the doubles, even he played XD so well...

Base on what I observed in the Indian GPG his coach may be adopting a new style of play for him, one of patient rallying and accurate placing to out manoeuvre his opponent to create smashing opportunities in contrast to the speedy- attack style we saw in Australia and NZ last year. Xue Song style of play resemblances with his senior Chen Long, too many rallies...

Yup, Ng KL is the surprising winner to beat local fave Xue S and second seed Wei N enroute to win MS title, new talent from HKG?
 
Yeah, "the match" was quite a let down. It is really unfortunate that Mr. Lin's disinterest in playing this exhibition match was all too obvious.

It's up to LYB to make his player better ambassadors for the game, in ways in addition to winning medals.
 
All new Chinese players look amazingly un-exciting.
from XS, Guo Kai, Gao Huan etc all look so weak...

players like Zhu Weilun, Gong Weijie etc would've loved to be playing in this era.
 
It's a good result for HK. Ladies doubles haven't been as consistent.

The funding from government is very dependent on results of these competitions. HK tennis e actually lost funding and support because of poor results. So for the HK team, these victories, although small, hold a lot of impact.

Really they showed some results, I must say. Grabing MS title in chinese teritory is not lesser than sensation. Except 1st round , he won all the other rounds in straight games . I think he will be the next Hu Yun in the making.
 
Ka Long Ng also won a China junior singles tournament about 3 years ago. This led to a profile of him in the English language newspaper in HK. There it detailed that Ka Long Ng was still attending school, had limited time in training camps and yet managed to win that competition that had many China junior players. After leaving school, he spent one more year playing doubles with Chun Hei Lee (they won the world junior championships boys doubles) before concentrating mainly on singles.

I have not seen him play much but definitely he is the brightest prospect for HK men's singles. Chun Hei Lee has been even more successful winning a couple of Grand Prix mixed titles with Hoi Wah Chau. His ranking is too high to enter international challenges!
 
I must say that he is going to be one of top 10 players soon. I watched one of his matches in videos. He has so much varieties in his game and also his recovery is good. His basic game is perfect which makes him to perform well with less unforced errors. That should be the motto.

I don't think you should go around throwing top 10 as if it is a very easy feat. He hasn't even shown himself in Super Series tournaments yet.
