String tension and string is personal preference. I use Ashaway Micro Power white at 30lbs.

hey dinkalot, you seem quite familiar with the apacs range of rackets.
i have never used them so do not know anything. but started browsing them to look for cheaper rackets as yonex are expensive and not very durable.
back to the topic, im woondering which racket is the most suitable for hard smashing. it seems the l50 is powerful but then some have brought up the np9900, t200, vh1800, vh1500. so im a bit confused and need advice.

According to the reviews I've read, your list sounds pretty good for smashing racquets, You left off the AMP series. People like the AMP95, which is very stiff, I have an AMP90 and I think that it's a little too stiff and unforgiving for my taste.

I think that all of the APACS racquets are going to feel slightly different with the VH1500 being more flexible and the NP9900 and Tantrum 200 being stiffer. It sounds like the NP9900 is the racquet if you want absolute smashing power but the L50 is the choice if you want great smashing power but you still need manuverability.

I really like the feel of the VH1800 but I suspect that it loses out the other racquets you mentioned in raw power.

I think that DinkALot covers it pretty well in this post:

DinkALot, how would you compare the NP9900 to the AMP90 in terms of power and maneuverability/defense? Also, does it have the short feel of the AMP90?

The 9900 is more powerful, defense about the same or a bit less on the 9900. But the feel of the 9900 is better, more solid, less shock even though it's stiffer.

Does it feel shorter than a normal racket like the AMP90 does?

The AMP90 does not feel short to me. The NP9900 does feel longer than the AMPs though.

so just to confirm, am i right to say that np9900 is the racket with the greatest raw power?? coz the website does not promote it as a powerful racket but rather as a fast racket.
btw, what model of the yonex range is it a copy of, or is it a apacs creation on it own? isit like nano speed??

You cannot go by APACS specs, they are not always accurate.

The NP9900 is APACS' own creation. Yonex does not have anything like it. The closest thing to the NP9900 is a SOTX Woven 11.

It's the most powerful APACS racket this panda has tried, relatively speaking.

My AMP90 is slightly long. 676-677mm. Or are you saying that it feels short to you? Mine feels normal length but I'm not sure that I can tell the difference between a 665mm racquet and a 675mm racquet so maybe I'm not qualified to comment :)

The racket is definitely shorter because when I line it up with say a Nano 900 Power along the cone, the Nano 900 power is noticeably longer. The reason the AMP90 is about the same length overall (handle and everything) as most rackets is because the handle is extra long. Because the overall length from the bottom of the cone (cap) to the top of the frame is shorter than most rackets, it feels a lot shorter.

The AMP90 is the only full size (675mm) racquet that I have with me at the moment. From the top of the frame to the bottom of the cone is 515mm and the handle is 161mm long.

What is normal? Or is there no normal with racquets varying significantly in handle and shaft length?

hi dink asking for recomandation of racquet for a intermediate level(all around player but love to smash), which of this suit me? VH 1200 TO VH 1700 cause the racquet is almost same price, technology difference about the same, stiffness are medium and come in 3u.
(i check the information in apacscanada.com)

Definitely agree with that - the two that I got from you hits absolute bombs, but very fast in defence!

The snag is that after playing with the NP9900, I tried switching back to the AMP95, as my arm was getting tired form the stiffness of the racket, but found the AMP 95, my former go to racket, totally weird in feel :crying::crying::crying:!! Felt a bit like a hammer and no feel when hitting.

I'm now very tempted to get more NP9900s now!

I'd say go for the VH1800, that's the best VH IMHO. The 1700 is great too but a bit too head heavy as is the 1500 which is more flexible and forgiving.

The VH1800 definitely comes in 3U 'cause I have one. I've heard that the VH1500 is more head heavy and less manuverable than the VH1800 but I've never played with a VH1500.

    Hi Dink,

How about VH1600 compared to the VH1700 and VH1800?

Thinking about changing from AMP90 to one of the above. :D

    Thanx.
