Reminds of the British trying to teach India religion by introducing Christianity. When M K Gandhi was asked what he thought of Western Civilization, he quipped, " I think iyt would be a good idea !" Chinese culture is changing as the world is now open to anybody who has the means.
Young Chinese are also changing in their thinking. What they learn from the old Chinese culture may not apply in today's world.
The better they know of the old China, perhaps the worse it is for them to adapt to the present world.
If Sun Yat Sen did not start the ball rolling to modernize China, she will still be in pigtails and under many 'emperors and warlords'.

I don't read you as claiming the supremacy of Chinese culture. But it's undeniable Chinese civilization is the longest, most enduring, unbroken and remaining surviving one in the world today, what with China on the rise and poised to become the next superpower, that's telling, and speaks volumes. Arguably, China was dominant for 17 out of the last 20 centuries, more so than USA ever was/is. More importantly, China has never felt the need to conquer or rule the world, and has basically been a benign, peace-loving country (the concept of nationhood is a modern development) though not quite internally, esp in the earlier centuries.
Sorry, I digress.
But there's still quite a number of CHN fans who once supported Taufik Hidayat and still thought highly of him - just look at how he's received and treated whenever he's in China, the same goes for LCW and Peter Gade, just to mention a few.then no wonder Chinese fans prefer DEN![]()
A bitDoes JOJ sweat?
Well China has to change its Communist outlook and learn from the Capitalists to help it to upgrade economically.
A very demeaning change I would think, but again out of necessity.
Precisely, if China did not change, she will be dominated by foreign powers for a much longer time.
But now new realities demand new changes.
And if the economically transformed China, with such a huge population, continues to exert its power, especially against its smaller neighbours, we are not going to have prolonged peace and stability as what we've enjoyed for such a long time.
