It's a pity, but you're probably right by saying that this (today's performance) is his usual standard. That he can play incredibly good badminton against LD and CL shows that it's a psychological problem, in my opinion. When he has nothing to lose and can play without pressure he plays well, not so much when the chances are equal or when he is expected to win.
