Ahsan/Hendra took 2nd set, but I can't say that was near their best. And .. agree that Ahsan is not showing his usual dynamic movement
Liew Daren (S6) and Boonsak Ponsana (S7) were made to bite the dust in round 2 by unseeded players. BP could be tired from playing too many tournaments but Liew Daren has no such escuse and he is just not good enough to succeed LCW.
(passby) every asian is sleeping when they play while others seem less interested in this tournament. so the post number was
All, except 2 of my predictions (Hera Desi and Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Anneke Feinya Agustine) were spot on for R32. Many more will lose today and the biggest hope will come from XD yet again. MS R16 Hans Kristian Vittinghus [8] vs Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka [14] - a victory for Hayom will be a bonus! MD R16 Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro [4] vs Tsai Chia Hsin/Lee Sheng Mu - this is a tough match for Angga/Rian. The TPE pair can beat them! Hendra A. Gunawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki vs Chai Biao/Hong Wei [6] - the CHN pair should take this one. Markis Kido/Alvent Yulianto Chandra vs Mohd Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan [5] - INA is guaranteed a spot in the MD QF. Ahsan/Hendra need to win to guarantee their spot in the WC. WD R16 Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth/Rizki Amelia Pradipta [6] vs Serithammarak Artima/Peeraya Munkitamorn - Pia/Rizki should fulfill their seeding and face the top-seeded Danish pair tomorrow. Lee So Hee/Shin Sheung Chan vs Meiliana Jauhari/Liliyana Natsir - the World Junior champion should progress. XD R16 Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir [1] vs Jorrit De Ruiter/Samantha Barning - should be a breeze for the top-seed. Markis Kido/Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth [5] vs Ruud Bosch/Selena Piek - Kido/Pia should also fulfill their seeding. Lee Sang Joon/Kim So Young vs Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto [3] - another tricky tie for Rijal/Debby. I hope they can also progress to at least SF.

Sun Yu has herself to blame for losing G3 and the match. Her backhand defence was weak and Sayaka's cross-court smashes and drop shots to her left side troubled her repeatedly. Also Sayaka has got a very good defence such that Sun Yu became unsure of her attacks which is her only strong point. In net play,Sayaka is also superior and outplayed Sun Yu more often than not.
DuPY had a narrow escape from the gritty, blistering play of Tanongsak who was attacking like mad throughout. I thought it was going to be game over for DuPY but luckily his patient, stubborn defence gradually ground down Tanongsak whom I thought was too eager to bring the shuttle down at every opportunity. In the first two rounds, Wang ZM had straightforward wins but you never know which WZM will show up every round. Both DuPY and WZM are painfully aware that they have to show better and more consistent results, high time they do so, with new and younger compatriots being introduced into the international circuit now and then.
The veteran handmaiden Jiang YJ overcame the up-and-coming Sayaka Takahashi the previous encounter in a close three-setter but I sense it's going to be tougher this time. Sayaka continues to improve and has the fitness, speed and capable defence whereas JYJ (28 yrs old already ?) can only depend on her supposed better knowledge and greater experience to deal with most of her younger and hungrier opponents. I won't be surprised the youthful Sayaka prevails this time.
