perhaps he's going in with the burden of having to prove his worth, to make LD's "sacrifice" worth it

I think he is very nervous after tactic not working slightly before the interval in first set. He looks lost and I don't think he show this funny side of him even against LD. Too many uncharacteristic mistakes from that point onwards. Looks like a LCW's clone in 2010 Thomas cup and 2008 Olympic final.

LCW at his best as he makes the impossible retrieval, forcing CL, all demoralized, to smack into the net

Not the greatest match from CL, but a brilliant display from LCW. It'll be very hard for Taufik...

That pretty much sums up CL's evening. A misjudgement on a LCW lift and decides at the last moment to play it, only to slice it woefully into the net. Game, set and match LCW.

It was really in the category of "miserable" with regards to CL's performance. Hope TH can reach his WC'10 form and give us an amazing final.

LCW saves badminton from CHN clean sweep. :)
Sorry to mention, I think CL still does not achieve what other CHN MS achieve, LD, CJ, or even BCL.

I am just still asking why CHN seems want to put CL as his first MS now

A quick hug with Misbun and his coach quietly exits stage left

I think you're being kind to only categorize it as "miserable"

Still baffled with CL's insipid effort. He displayed many instances of "hands of stone" where his lack of touch, or "soft hands", would have reaped him a few points.

What a disappointment! CL was much too slow. Maybe he needs to lose some leg muscles in favour of a more agile performance.

Me think LD is still their man, just that they want 3 in the top 4 for OG12. CJ should be more or less safe (barring any mishaps like this MO) judging from his H2Hs with Gade/Taufik. BCL plagued by injuries and such and I don't think he'll cut it come 2012. So CL is now their priority. And I suspect that the CHN team is "warming everyone up" to slide into top gear around AE/India Open to squeeze LD/CL/CJ into the top 4 WR so their seeding would be good come the OG qualification period and can avoid meeting each other early.

@samuelk: Of course you're right, it also depends on the opponent you play against...

    Perhaps you're right. I agree.
But, I am not sure, no playing LD/CJ means not giving nice seeding for them.
Placing 3 CHN MS into top 3 world ranking by next year. Quite possible, but it will be very hard except Taufik and PG are being demotivated to play.
I am quite sure LCW will be still on top 4 until next year.

Because CL is the youngest among them, regeneration is a must
