Wow....I am starting to become a fan of her. If only she could participate in more tourneys...... The doubles are not that interesting....top 2 seeds are guaranteed of a passage at least to the semi-finals. Fully concur with your predictions too...

What a performance by world #102 Karunaratne beating World #18 in 3! Too bad for Canada but how many medals is Sri Lanka up for?
Hallam (Eng) bt Morgan (Wal) - straightforward win Hindley (Nzl) bt Luiz (Aus) Li Li (Sin) lost to Popat (Ind) - 3 tough games Reid (Can) lost to Cann (Eng) - Canada chokingl Murgunde (Ind) lost to Hughes (Sco) - easier than expected Liu Fan (Sin) bt Rice (Can) - another Canada choke Xing (Sin) v Nehwal (Ind) - no result yet Pasturel (Jer) v Wong MC (Mas) - WMC should be on her way
Wong MC beat Pasturel easily. Nehwal went down to Xing in 3 games. Wong MC to play Xing tomorrow. Xing could possibly stop Wong MC (especially if her injury bothers her). She has more guts than Li Li, more like Wong MC herself.
WS R16 completed Hallam (Eng) bt Morgan (Wal) 10, 13 Hindley (Nzl) bt Luiz (Aus) 7, 12 Popat (Ind) bt Li Li (Sin) -10, 21, 17 (very close except first game) Cann (Eng) bt Reid (Can) 16, 12 Hughes (Sco) bt Murgunde (Ind) 17, 9 Liu Fan (Sin) bt Rice (Can) 16, 19 Xing (Sin) bt Nehwal (Ind) -14, 13, 6 Wong MC (Mas) bt Pasturel (Jer) 6, 11 Singapore and India share the spoils. QF lineup: (Predicted winners in bold) Hallam (Eng) v Hindley (Nzl) Popat (Ind) v Cann (Eng) Liu Fan (Sin) v Hughes (Sco) Wong MC (Mas) v Xing (Sin) if her back holds
Actually, Elizabeth Cann represents Jersey, not England. The only upset I can see is Xing beating Wong, injury or not.
Nehwal must have lost due to experience, when Xing changed tactics, Nehwal cannot respond. Classic problem of newbies. The same thing happened to Susi Susanti when she was still a teenager playing in Stadium Negara in '88. She was leading Han Aiping one set and at matchpoint in the second (10-5). Yet she managed to lose the set and the match.
That's because in the Commonwealth Games, you will find they really subdivide into the smallest division. So, you can find Jersey, Isle of Man etc. By itself, Jersey is way to small.

I think Wijaya/Liu have played over their heads. Expereince will win out in this case. No problems for Koo/Wong.
SHIRLEY/RUNESTEN PETERSEN v SUSILO/JIANG 28-26 first set . Must have had the fans on the edge of their collective seats.
