    DRAW published!!

The draw has been published on http://www.worldbadminton.net

There are quite a few surprises including Tony Gunawan competing in singles!

Halim Haryanto is playing in doubles with Thomas Indrajaya  (there are quite a few "unknown" Indonesians competing)
Also Heryanto Arbi is competing in doubles, is he the one we all know??

Anyway, the big clash should be Ronald Susilo vs Peter Rasmussen in the second round!

not a very exciting draw, unfortunately.

being so close to the Dutch/Danmark/German triple, most top players aren't coming for the US open. being 1* also doesn't help the cause. i cannot wait till when the US Open goes back to being a 5* event!

but i think the top match would be Susilo vs. Peter Rasmussen as pointed out. Susilo has made a mark by winning the JO and also beating Lin Dan in the Olympics. many eyes will be on him.

also another interesing part is that Tony Gunawan is playing with Howard Bach. this mark the retirement of Kevin Han and to be honest, i think the Gunawan/Bach pair will go much further than the Han/Bach pair.

yeah. before the Asian financial crisis, they managed to attract very good sponsorship and it was 5* then. but lately it has only been a small 1* tournament.

Though it is not specially exciting there are a few surprises including Halim Haryanto's (presence and) partnership and Heryanto Arbi (the same one?)'s presence in both doubles...
Has anyone got any more information about this?

Though it is not a 5*, I think it is interesting to follow even so...

i was actually debating if it were interesting enough to drive 7 hours to go watch... but then janet told me that we have a wedding to go to that weekend. i guess that made my choice easier...

Well, I suppose that's the distance I am from Paris too...
Anyway, you can still follow the early rounds online (the second round should be the most interesting normally ;) )

I heard that Ronald Susilo has withdrawn from the Open due to some unknown injury. And Halim Haryanto is partnering with David Pohan and not Thomas Indrajaya.
