Nah I remember that year, she didn't feel unbeatable like ASY is IMO.

    ASY looks a class apart.

TTY had the 'taufik like shots' gimmick and supposedly supreme fitness, but to me she didnt look anywhere near as good as ASY.

ASY strokes are very reliable and consistent. She hardly hits out and with her good defence, nobody can outlast her.

She hasn't even use much smashes.

That's because the competition are weaker now lol. TTY had to battle the likes of RI, marin, sindhu, nozomi, akane, etc all in their absolute prime.

Akane was nowhere near her prime back then.

You just reminded me, Marin in her prime looked unbelivable before the ACL.

ASY is making everyone else look like amateurs these days with effortless rallies.

There is nothing else to do but have fun betting, trying to forget the bitter reality of not a single player from my country remaining.
A cup of black coffee please....

Meanwhile our GMT needed to lose 2 games just to find the accuracy so as not to go out.
    Another black coffee please...

I agree, let's see how long ASY can maintain her superiority over the rest of the field, the way Lin Dan, Lee CW or even Chen Long did in their times.

Too bad for TTY, one unfortunate decision (politically motivated, misled and misguided, in my opinion) and it sealed her fate thereafter; I seriously doubt TTY has a fighting chance to win the Paris OG gold next year, her last and final shot at a major title in the twilight years of her career.

I pray that ASY fully recover from her injury in a short time.

Yeah, only 1 match went to 3 games.
If all 5 matches went to rubber, we will still be waiting for the WS match.

    Watching Chelsea now.

Again, its chronic injury so doesn't really count . They were as good physical condition as ever are . And longer / shorter matches this type of thing keeps happening , can't blame it for a loss or win either way round

ASY's leg cramp is not an injury, unless there's an underlying medical condition.

Too many good players can stop TTY next year at the Olympics. ASY, Yamaguchi, CYF, are simply better players than TTY at this point. Any of those 3 can beat her. Then you have other players, who if are on their game and have a good day, can also beat TTY: Marin, Sindhu, Okuhara, etc.

I would be surprised if TTY won gold next year. It's not impossible, but given the state of Women's Singles in 2023, it's an uphill battle for TTY at the Olympics in 2024.
