Are you mistaken Ko Sunghyun for some CHN player?

yeah. it’s very rare playing style especially now. MD nowadays often just outpace their opponent to get the point or force them to made error.

But fajar/rian style is very often to find a gap in their opponent defensive formation. thats the art of this kind of playing style.

Honestly when I watched that final, it seemed like watching Kevin playing against Fajar/Rian with Marcus on the side.
Marcus can play some good shots too some times but yeah.. :p

true, angga/ricky also playing with this kind of style back then...but they didn't really have enough power from the back and their defense wasn't as strong as fajar/rian now.

kevin actually has the skill to play like this, as we see in the second game when he started looking for gap and play more soft placement shot, but I don't think gideon can.

Never seen minions crying their eyes out after winning any match before.

Congrats to minions who are now 1.5 billion rupiah (103,448 U.S. dollars) richer.

God is good, turns out losing in WC was a blesing in disguise. xD

That would be cool, although hoping even for an exhibition match with them is probably too much :D

yeah, i only saw chandra/tony in one video (Sydney 2000) and they play quite similar with minions, especially their insane defence. but i dont know, if thats chandra/tony true color, as they are from before my time

The one that people say similar to minions was Candra/Sigit with Sigit being the creative and moody type and Candra being the steady and stable one. Though we could find similarities in Sigit and Kevin's play in terms of cheeky and brilliant shots selection (Sigit being Kevin's coach back in his club), I don't know if Marcus was even close to Candra's level (Candra being one of my favorite MD player ever)

Candra was paired with Tony after Sigit got suspended because of some doping case, but it turned out they won the Sydney Olympic Gold. Too bad we didn't have youtube videos back then and all the videos were very low quality. I like Candra/Tony better though they were separated after Sigit was back.

candra/tony probably the last indonesian MD who've had great defense, I kinda miss watching indonesian MD having that kind of defense.

yes there are plenty of them.
These three plus Halim Haryanto are kinda weird, they are all play and also against each other on so many occasions while still being successful with each partnership.

Candra with Halim, Tony and SIgit
Halim with Candra, Tony and SIgit
iirc, only Tony and Sigit never played together.
