Frankly I have high hopes for ZBW as a badminton player. I've watched her development since she came here as a young teenager and how she progressed at tournaments. Every player has his ups and downs, but she has improved over the years.

Human beings have both their strengths and weaknesses but ZBW must learn to live with others, especially those in authority. She is now trained to be a true professional and she has to learn fast about discipline and how to take care of herself as an athlete so that she can perform better and not subject herself to injury.

It does not pay to offend chief coach Luan Jin. The coach has much experience to impart to her if she is prepared to listen and it will make her a much better player than she is now.

So ZBW must change and learn to discipline herself if she wants to go far in the badminton world.

Can anyone confirm whether ZBW is really being recalled back to the Singapore squad?
If she continues to train and compete in Indonesia, it doesn't seem right, unless the SBA arranges it.

I would support ZBW if she is not supported by SBA (to play at the Indonesian League).

Why don't National Associations support players doing their own things independently? This, I have to say that I find it detrimental to our Badminton, as a growing sport.

SBA has been supporting her for a very long time and wants her to be a better player. But you know the story why the two have to part.
If a player does not want to listen and become more disciplined despite being given another chance, will it not be detrimental to badminton as well? Will she be a good influence to other trainees? If other trainees follow her example and challenge the coach, will it be good for badminton?

    OK Loh,

You can see that I am more into antiestablishmentarianism. :):):)

For me, ZBW has not done anything wrong to Badminton, even though she has done something wrong to SBA (according to SBA).

    Take a broader view.

Establishment, players, coaches, officials and others connected with the game cannot survive in a vacuum. They need each other to make progress and bring the game to greater heights. Therefore understanding and cooperation is called for. Taking an anti-establishment stance may not make things better. Instead it could delay progress and prolong the agony.

No one should deny that there are always differences in viewpoints and some parties may feel discriminated against or being marginalised. But there will also be some common space with which the parties can focus and work on.

Of course an enlightened leadership can bring about better solutions to push forward.

Congrats ZBW and I hope she can progress on the international stage.

BTW Dawei, you seem to be very interested in ZBW's development.
Has she gone back to the SBA? If so why is she still in Indonesia?

It's great that we are interested in ZBW's news/development (as a player)

    .
Loh, It's great that you are interested in ZBW's news/development (as a player) more than the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA)'s development (as an association). :):):)

I'm sure the SBA is concerned about her.

Although I still did not read of any confirmation, but it seems ZBW is back with SBA. If that is the case, SBA should be credited with her welfare.

As I've said before the SBA brought her to Singapore when she was just a young teenager and groomed her until now when she's grown to become an adult. This is like a parent-child relationship which is hard to break.

    It's Badminton for Badminton's sake

    .
I have only followed that ZBW was sacked by SBA. And I hope ZBW will continue playing Badminton. Therefore, I hope for ZBW to go independent, or to play for another nation.

    It's Badminton for Badminton's sake.

For associations and/or for nations, it is not the issue.
