I agree with you that the XD final would be a better game. in this case, you can argue that it's a good idea. but will you still argue for it if the walkover occured in other events like MD or MS? I just dont like players or coaches manipulating the results

You are right, I don't like these kind of tricks at all. I just want to explore why this happens and what consequences will follow. When I understand all the logic behind the things I didn't understand at first, then I can enjoy more on badminton. Sometimes, we, as fans, worried to much even than those players and people who make a living on badminton.

of course, we are all guessing here. perhaps it can be the truth that these two pairs got injured.

however, it is also plausible that this is another trick for not having to spend the team's energy to play internal matches. previously, LiYB would ask the players to play uncompetitively, or play competitively for one game, in some cases, his team has been penalized for it. now he just plainly state that they are injured. so they don't have to play at all! i think sooner or later, IBF will start asking for doctor approval. just like when we need to ask for sick days at work!

no professional player's physical condition is 100% good, so I dont think doctor approval will make sense. Need a more effective way to prevent these tricks.;)

How can a team be injured without having to play and just after going through to the next round with injured opponents? Only the Chinese team will pull a stunt like this. I think that the IBF should check on the injury and players must be certified injured by an IBF doctor. This is ridiculous and so unfair to the event and fans.

u got my drift;) It's almost to impossible diagnosis neck, wrist and ankle 'injuries' accurately, hehehe

    3. injuries are harder to dispute by official than throwing games on the mat

Do they need doctor's approval now? I know in professional tennis it is required for a long time already. Otherwise, the player who withdraw will be subject to money penalty.

Chinese team got better this time. They have 7 finalists competing in all 5 events, and grabbed two titles (ms and wd) already. They performed even better in men's event than ladies. Korea, Indo and Netherland will fight in mx, md and ld, respectively, with China for the other 3 titles.

I worry about these finalists who may have trouble in the back2back All England. There is no time left for them to take a breath, while all the others have rest for days. Usually, AE was first, followed by SO, that's good becuase AE is more important than AE. The AE winner could skip SO. But now the best players have to sacrifice their AE (which is more important) chance. Is this possible that Both Bao and Lin claim injury in the final tomorrow to save energy for the AE?;)

2cents have a good point. why haven't Lin or Bao claimed injury yet? ;)

it will be so glaringly obvious if they had though.

but then, it is plausible that Zhang Jiewen may be injured as the Chinese media did mentioned that she has been recovering from an injury for the past few months and didn't participate too well in training. i haven't heard anything about WeiYL/ZhaoTT.

disappointing indeed. i always enjoyed watching ladies doubles. fluid and fast and very deceptive placements. as if playing a game of chess.

Yes, you're right. I heard Xia XZ said that the athlete's injury is different from ordinary people. Xia said his injury is nothing for ordinary people. But for an athlete like him, his injury is a big hindrance for him to perform normally in badminton. A mediocre doctor even cannot even understand athlete's injury.

2cents. totally agree. i have had a knee injury for a couple of months now. and while on everyday activity, it doesn't bother me at all, i find that the little sore on the knee completely threw my game off, every step on the court is painful. as the game goes on, the off-timing of the footwork starts to affect all coordination of the body and then all bets are lost from that point on.

What you said is almost the same as what Xia had said.

Well, IMHO, that's the exact time to withdraw due to injury, don't worry about the penalty or whatever other people's complaining. ;)
