Also a big surprise to me ,even than CAI/FU run into the MD Final.

I want to know what's the matter with ZhangNing!

    Re: Mixed doubles..

interesting point. Kim lost MD in the quarter-final. he didn't play much except for the mixed doubles semi-final against Robertsen/Emms. Ra played a pretty quick WD semi-final against Gao/Huang.

Zhang Jun was kicked out of MD on round one. and have been sitting around since then. Gao Ling played the WD semi against Ra.

so i think energy-wise, both side are similar with may be a very slight edge from Zhang. but i doubt that is of much significance.

it really depends on how eager they want to win this Swiss Open. Zhang/Gao is the only pair in the world right now with the chance to end Kim/Ra's winning streak. however, if i were to put my money, i would still put my money on Kim/Ra.

    Mia and Olympics

Good tournament for Audina this time. And it looks Yao Jie spoiled Xie's chances on going to the olympics, unless she'll do amazingly well in the upcoming tournaments.

Mia's main interest the past few years has been to improve her olympic record.
What do you think, what are her chances of capturing a medal at the olympics?

Except for the mixed and ladies doubles, after this swiss open, there's not much we can say for sure...

Maybe after the All England and Korea Open we have a better picture of how the cards are laying...

Mia got the Silver in Atlanta, didn't she? and if i remember correctly, she was around 16 yrs old then. for her to improve on her record means that she need to win the Gold!

the possibility is definitely there. however, this time around it will not be as easy. 8 years has passed and the Chinese who were at their worst time during the mid 90s has risen again.

but then, the Olympics is always the place where surprise winners are born. who'd expect Ji to win a Gold? and who'd expect Zhang/Gao to win one as well? the Olympics' five ring has some magic to it, it is where the experience can suddenly crumble under pressure, and the young can suddenly gain superman's power and spring to life. we will just have to wait and see.

Very good, Kwun! Yes it means she is heading for Gold!
Thanks for your opinion, I agree it will not be easy now the Chinese are up and ruling again. But with a high world ranking she might not run into the strongest Chinese until the semi-finals in Athens...

It will truly be interesting to see whether of some the established players will rule the olympics... or.... the youngsters and upcoming players will take the gold.

we will just have to wait and see.

That's right. Are you going to be there live, in Athens?
Chances are that it's not going to be broadcasted here on TV in Holland, so I'm looking for ways to stay with the action in August...

Yeah after such a thrilling first game, what a disappointing second game. Does anyone know what happened?

Now let's wait and see what the Chinese can do against young Indonesian pair.
And for desert we get the usual mix final ;)

Ok, have refreshed it and it showed 15-2, 15-8 !!
Could be a typo error by the webmaster earlier, and corrected it later.
I accessed to it earlier than you, so I got the wrong results!
