Sindhu (IND) MD - Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen (CHN) WD - Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi (JPN) XD - Wang Yilu/Huang Dongping (CHN) Second time of four-year stint Guangzhou hosts BWF pinnacle of rebranded tournament World Tour that expecting to showcase all world's best action in five days entertaining and classy match. A promotional event seems less creative, improvised to repeat last year cooking demo concept and sounds formalization instead to present an attractive event. The glamorous gala dinner was conducted last night which highlighting BWF award presentation to announce the winners below : Male Player of The Year : Kento Momota (JPN) Female Player of The Year : Huang Yaqiong (CHN) Most Improved Player of The Year : Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong (KOR) Most Promising Player of The Year : An Se Young (KOR) Male Para Badminton Player of The Year : Qu Zimo (CHN) Female Para Badminton Player of The Year : Leani Ratri Oktila (INA) Male Best Dressed Player : Viktor Axelsen (DEN) Female Best Dressed Player : Ratchanok Intanon (THA) MOMOTA UNFINISHED BUSINESS Overall it’s much better line-up (than 2018 edition) to reflect current men’s singles real strength based on BWF World Ranking, seven of top eight are taking part. The overwhelming favourite Kento Momota who scores stellar performance prior to World Tour Finals has a firm mission to redeem his shocking defeat to Shi Yuqi last year. Shi doesn’t qualified on merit this time as his ranking has been plummeted due to long injury lay-off. The Japanese is drawn in relatively favorable group stage with three debutants, Asian Games Champion Jonatan Christie, the vast improved Danish youngster Anders Antonsen and TPE number two Wang Tzu Wei. Second seed Chou Tien Chen joins death of group with two-time winner Viktor Axelsen and the Olympic Champion Chen Long alongside Indonesian star Anthony Ginting. TOUGH FOR TOP SEED Chen Yufei is touted to be China best successor to bring back the supremacy that faded gradually post Rio 2016. The consistent Chen has heavy burden to reclaim season ending final champion since Li Xuerui victory in 2013 edition. Akane Yamaguchi and reigning World Champion Pusarla Sindhu will be her major obstacle in group A beside teammate He Bingjiao. In group B, two-time winner Tai Tzu, 2013 World Champion Ratchanok Intanon and last year beaten finalist Nozomi Okuhara have equal chance to advance into knock out phase. One surprising participant in this prestigious event is Busanan Ongbamrungpan, world ranking #16 which her biggest result was runner-up position in Super 300 tournament early year,Thailand Masters. MINIONS OR DADDIES? Both formidable men’s doubles pairs, Gideon/Sukamuljo and Ahsan/Setiawan occupy top two seeds, thanks to their stable mode in BWF World Tour. The Minions are besieged by Japanese potential stunner Kamura/Sonoda and Endo/Watanabe. It would be gloomy prospect and uphill task for defending champion Li JH/Liu YC who only pocketing two titles in Macau (S300) and Malaysia Open (S750) to pass group stage considering their uninspiring feat lately. The Daddies have relatively favourable draw with two Chinese Taipei combinations and Malaysian rising stars Aaron Chia/Soh WY who sneak out in last minute to secure their berth in Guangzhou Finals. JAPAN EYES HAT-TRICK Two-time world Champions and their fellow countrywomen world number two pair will be Japan backbone to extend their women’s doubles crown in season finale. Defending champion Matsutomo/Takahashi fail to fulfill the criteria as maximum two pairs per nation are eligible to participate. Matsumoto/Nagahara must face heavyweight test for their group matches, two powerful Korean combinations Kim/Kong and last year silver medalists Lee SH/Shin SC. Meanwhile the in-form home favourites Chen QC/Jia YF and nemesis Fukushima/Hirota are potential candidates to fill semifinal slot of group A. PRESSURE ON CHINA More and more foreign pairs have succeeded and find formula to rattle China mixed doubles stranglehold recently which comprised by Zheng/Huang and defending champions Wang/Huang. Jordan/Oktavianti also Thailand dynamic duo Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai are primary stumbling block to derail Chinese plot at home extravaganza event. More complicated script is served by group B fixture, two-time World Champions will be flanked by two darkhorses, Indonesian number one who just clinch SEAG gold medal and Japanese Watanabe/Higashino. DAY-1 | GROUP-STAGE ORDER OF PLAY (11.00am & 06.00pm) : https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...144033-A23C-47A2-9CC7-4F292234AFF7&d=20191211
In this group B, I believe Ginting is the underdog. CTC, Victor and CL all are giants compared to Ginting.
i'm agree with you..ginting has potential, but he's quite inconsistent. CTC,CL,VA is heavy weight contender.but who knows ginting can emulate his Victor China Open 2018
Yamaguchi may find it difficult to progress from the group stage. Not only has she been finding international tournaments to be challenging of late, she is also struggling at domestic events, such as the All Japan Championships and S/J League. Sonoda/Kamura could also be in trouble. Sonoda collapsed from dehydration at the All Japan Championships just over a week ago, and Kamura didn't feature in last weekend's S/J tournament, due to (an unspecified) injury.
for AY, it'd be good for her to have more competitive games under her belt as she work to full fitness and match sharpness.
Team Japan's look for the World Tour Finals. More details are available on the Yonex website at https://www.yonex.co.jp/badminton/news/2019/12/1912091500.html (Japanese).
Please tell me where you can see the results of the All Japan Championships and S / J League, preferably in English. Of particular interest are the results of AY. Thanks.
This year, the Nippon Badminton Association was fairly innovative in using Tournament Software to record the results of the All Japan Championships, including the LiveScore function, but unfortunately everything was in Japanese. → https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament?id=E3AEC76D-32F1-41CC-B451-2BD7FB216359 The results of the WS draw are available at https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=E3AEC76D-32F1-41CC-B451-2BD7FB216359&draw=20, and you will note that Yamaguchi (山口 茜) is listed as No. 1, right at the top of the draw. S/J League results are available at https://www.sj-league.jp/result, but these, too, are only accessible in Japanese. As you know, Yamaguchi is affiliated to Saishunkan, so if you click on「詳細」beneath anything with the Saishunkan logo, i.e., , the individual results pop up.
Not too sure. But from my understanding of major events, they broadcast as early as the first day of tournament.
ZhengHuang hasnt won in their last 4 tournaments. Losing 3x in Final. Well, getting in Final is way easier in XD than other disciplines. They will put things right in this tournament.
20 matches streamed? Wonder which session is Gill? How many commentators they have for this tournament?
