Really? I thought minions actually played better last year. They seemed a bit nervous today. Kevin's celebrations said it all. And Li/Liu was performing one of their best game throughout the year until the end of G3, fortunately.. Anyway, it's not the first time the CHN or any pair figured out minions pattern. And I supposed every other pairs in the world have, as a matter of fact. Minioins have been around for four years, everyone knows their weakness.
TTY has so much skill but is a little lacking in the most important trait for a badminton player, consistency. Congrats to Okuhara though, she played well to bring it back in game 2!
Nozomi prevails against TTY, barely. A good victory, nevertheless. As usual, NO's tenacity, running ability and court coverage, remarkable. Still, I believe TTY will qualify in Grp B in the round-robin stage. We'll see.
Hmm personally I thought they played decent but were outplayed making them look play worse, let’s agree to disagree on this one haha. Yeah true most should know their patterns by now, but it’s the first time I saw a pair hardcore counterplay every of their shots, seemingly with a clear plan on what to do if this or that shot comes.
You must be standing on a different side of the court lol Well she usually doesn't but maybe it was her weary face expression today
How about the match against Choi/Seo in BWC? It had similar patterns. The difference was minions were more familiar with Li/Liu (hence how to deal with them even under the pressure) and maybe got luckier this time.
What's this in WD match? Hundreds of shots long rally? Don't know how Paul could keep his spirits high and commentate cheerfully lol
Yeah they definitely have problems dealing with pairs that can live with their pace, but personally I think the differing outcomes were more due to luck (if I’m allowed to say that haha). In their games where points are so short it’s honestly quite difficult to discern between luck and skill/tactics. Regardless tmr’s a tough match against Endo/Watanabe too, hope they play better
Seems like tonight there will be a new record in WD. 21-19, 3-11 in favour of PoliiAprianni against FukuRota around 50 mins.
It is horrific, isn't it. I caught a few rallies from the all Korean WD match earlier and it was fast paced and exciting. Then you switch to court 2 now and see Polii play one training-style clear after the other. This pair needs to go away, they are just unwatchable.
It's nice to see some diversity too when it comes to styles of play. Would be boring to have all players performing in the same exact way. Each athlete has some strong and weak points. It's up to them to take advantage of it and the opponents to crack it. While I agree it's not my cup of tea either I wouldn't go as far as wishing this pair to "go away" .
