Boe/Mog have a pretty bad record against the top pairs mentioned above (Cai/Fu, Lee/Jung, Koo/Tan, Lee/Yoo, Ahsan/Setiawan). Their only positive H2H is against Kido/Setiawan, but that only started after 2008 and Kido was starting to decline then. In those days, they can beat the "second-tier" pairs (think pairs like Chai/Hong, Endo/Hayakawa, Suwardi/Pratama, Ko/Yoo) pretty consistently, and sometimes spring a surprise on the top pairs, but it was difficult for them to consistently challenge enough top pairs in a row to win tournaments, particularly the majors. Also, WR1 means very little. See: Son Wan Ho
Nobody said WR1 means anything. It is just moment to enjoy but better win many SS titles. that way if they dont win any titles next year its OK. LiLiu WR1 only 2 titles. When you/we said BoMo then it should be a pair and not a player.. They are 2nd or 3rd in the list and thats that. There are reasons they won dozen of SS. Imo they MD these days are really competitive.. Even BoeMo can lose in R2 or KamuraSonodo. Anyone can beat anyone if they are focused enough. and Look at Lee/Lee today.
Unfortunately, competitiveness in the double sectors can still be preserved from a player with 2 different pairs (like Hendra, Fu Haifeng and Yong Dae). So it is not valid to only compare what a pair have achieved with players that changed partners (but also achieve a lot with the different partners). Emmm I don't see more competitiveness nowadays, I see more inconsistency. If your parameter for competitiveness is based on R1 loss, even Hendra/Ahsan lost at R1 of Korea Open 2013, ZN/Fu lost at R1 French 2014, R2 China Open 2014, R2 HK Open 2014, BoMo lost at R1 China Open 2014, R1 Malaysia Open 2014. As you said, 'Anyone can beat anyone if they are focused enough'. I don't see how these can be translated into 'competitiveness is higher at the top 4 or 5'.
Lmao you're the one who originally brought up that Boe/Mog were WR1, and in trying to weasel your way out of it, you still can't stop yourself from taking a jab at Li/Liu (what have they got to do with this? Isn't WR1 irrelevant according to you?)
who are you? WR1 has never been important if you dont win titles. Why cant i said about LiLiu who are you? arent they WR1 as well
He just love comparing Li/Liu somehow, taking a jab saying they as WR1 couldn't win a lot of SS and such since Kev/Gid dominates all. Isn't this the definition of boring MD when we have one pair dominating too much?
Once again, "WR1 not important if you don't win titles" and "why can't I bring them up since they are WR1 and don't win titles" in the same sentence. Flawless logic 10/10. Who am I? Not a blind fanboy, that's who. Totally no insinuations there of course
Just a reminder to not let things get personal. I have had to do a lot of cleaning up of bad smells on the forum and so would appreciate a little respite Mod
hmmm back to korea masters ... HJH and PYP trying out to switch to doubles in the near future ??? even though they crashed out here on their first match ahahha
Woke up to a surprise ... There's no history on BWF, but maybe they've played in local competition before?
