She is history. We all have to accept this fact. At 26, it's hard to come back from such a injury. She may need 1 to 1.5 years to be back to her optimum and by then she could be 28 and look at the current batch of WS, it's extremely hard for her to reign. Mark my words.
26 is still young. I think she has a chance to come back...of course it all depends on her will... Remember Sayaka Sato, recent winner of Indon SS. I think a lot of people wrote her off....but there is a will there is a way...god willing. Btw, does it mean that for such injuries, the younger you are the better the chances of full recovery? can the body heal itself better and get back to 100%?
From my understanding, you can only achieve 90 to 95 per cent of your original condition. Never 100%.
90-95% and still can win a SS for Sayaka...so proven, with some intelligent play and a little bit of luck, nothing is impossible.
Sayaka won INA open, that's a PSS, if LXR comes back there's no denial with her talent and versatility there's no stopping her. The only question is will she? The first step is always the most difficult one, surrounded by the storm of second thoughts and uncertainty
I suspect that either she sustained a another injury some time ago after coming back to China from her treatment in Germany or she may be quitting professional badminton for good.
Li Xuerui was last seen ranked 177th in the BWF official rankings published on 17/08/2017, week 33. She was then removed from the BWF rankings in the following week.
actually i may have jumped the gun. her last tournament results applicable to ranking points was the rio olympics, and 52 weeks has passed since 8/24/2016. in effect she has zero points. if she has not officially retired it'll be a looong road back, a la momota. she'll have to go through qualifying at all tournaments... if enough players ahead of her drop out. her only quick points will be from being included on china's team for team tournaments.
Li Xuerui has talked wedding in her latest weibo post. Her last few posts show sign of life far far away from Badminton.
She's my fav Chinese player, such a shame, such a short career undoubtedly the most talented WS we have seen in a while, no more of her? Wish her luck for her future ventures
I will be always hopeful to see her back, unless she officially declares otherwise. When she was her at her peak, no one seemed even close, including Yihan, who was almost as good as her. Anyway, dont mean to do any comparisons... Hope she is back. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
I suppose CBA would facilitate her come back, unlike Momota. Her way back to SS level would be shorter, three months maybe
Understandable given the cultural pressure of getting married by the age of 28 in China. I think it is unlikely to see her back.
