Difference btw ordinary player and wonderful player is this. Lindan levelled the score and leading now.
Brice couldn't be bothered to rush back for the last shot. Lin Dan stepped it up when necessary to finish it off in two sets.
I wonder how Denmark train Doubles players especially MD players. Great defence. They made an impossible situation to a complete winner. Wow.
Not really. At some point, it completely stopped. Pathetic. But there is something than nothing. So...
Actually, I read somewhere that this Swiss Open is being played in an underground site. Maybe that is the reason.
Chen Yufei got to improve on her repertoire of strokes, her shotmaking is becoming predictable. As such a young player, just turned 19 on 1st March, she should experiment more, be more creative.
Watching the uploaded recording of the match now-- but I keep getting distracted by all the "gossip/dirt" Steen Pedersen is dishing out, lol! Must download it later and pore through it like a podcast to hear exactly he is saying about all the different tournaments/venue-- shh, please let no one tell him he's being recorded! PS. I always thought Qiao Bin has gotten a bit too big/ bulky for a MS player-- and if he is already losing steam/ concentration so fast at his age, there may not be many years left of a career in the national team for him...
The quarterfinal round will be splitted by two sessions, 01.00pm & 06.00pm => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=6273AD9A-7BEC-45DA-A677-E5E4165EFCC0 Lin Dan advances to quarterfinal without much trouble including yesterday match to dispose Brice Leverdez. He will take on Indonesian youngster Ihsan Maulana Mustofa who delivered stiff resistance in their last encounter, BAC 2016. One more INA promising talent, Anthony Ginting will find Danish opponent, Emil Holst. On bottom half of draw, GER Open finalist Wang Tzu Wei continues his inspiring run and favoured to win over Kanta Tsuneyama. Twice consecutive losings for Qiao Bin to Prannoy after AE last week despite the Chinese had easy first game but couldn't close second game as Prannoy comeback from 15-18 delivered high pressure for Qiao that ended with 23-21. Third game was gone case for Qiao Bin, losing his confidence. The defending champion will take on China new hotshot Shi Yuqi who experienced hard times to eliminate Dane future star, Anders Antonsen. Shi displayed slow movement, too many wide shots or hitted the net, it's a questionable whether recent ankle injury impacts his form here. It was tight contest at deciding game, the explosive Antonsen couldn't control his emotion at crucial stage, 16-15 then Shi took 6 consecutive point to seal the match. Women's singles title contender, Zhang Beiwen ended her SUI Open campaign last night, lost to Danish young lady, Mia Blichfeldt. China best hopeful in this category, Chen Yufei gets tough rival to overcome, the resurgent Japanese player Sayaka Takahashi. Mixed fortune for Indonesia WS, Dinar Dyah Ayustine had no answer to tackle Takahashi but Fitriani through to last eight after fought hard to down Zhang Yiman. The favourites in doubles department progress into next round, Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan took revenge over second seed Li JH/Liu YC in close match, 17-21 / 21-12 / 21-19.
I'm impressed with the 27-yr-old Olga Konon who is playing both WS and WD and thru to the QFS in the two disciplines. Right, Sayaka Takahashi appears to be resurgent here, Chen Yufei is in for a rough ride today. Zhang Beiwen's loss to Mia Blichfeldt is a surprise to me, that shows Denmark is beginning to produce good WS players.
It's normal for a Grand Prix Gold: everything before the semi or quarter finals feels like a long series of qualifying rounds-- you can even see that the Super Series regulars are just putting 60-80% effort until they really get pushed.... that's why bwf's youtube channel only starts streaming from the semi-finals. Anyway, the real drama/fight in this Olympic cycle is between the Legendary Ladies: Marin, Sindhu, Intanon, Tai and maybe Okuhara/ Yamaguchi ... If nothing else, the Danish, English and Polish MDs are a hell of lot of fun to watch-- they are just a bunch of jumping jacks!!! Don't know why China had to go and make their MDs boring by selecting a bunch of mobile towers....
Sikki/pranav blew away 6 point lead and ended up losing the game 1 with 19-21 Sent from my SM-G600FY using Tapatalk
