I guess all BWF major events have no prize money. So Tommy is INA sole representative for MS discipline as reported on PBSI website : http://badmintonindonesia.org/app/information/newsDetail.aspx?/3000
XD defending champion Ahmad/Natsir will not fly to Copenhagen due to Tontowi ankle injury, BWF last updated (30th July 2014) : http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=579252&dl=1 So INA #1 XD will focus to Incheon Asian Games next September.
Compatriot, Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto take Ahmad/Natsir place in WC. Thus, there are four pairs from INA flying to Copenhagen from Mixed Doubles: 1. Markis Kido/Pia Bernadeth 2. Riky Widianto/Puspita Richi Dili 3. Markus Fernaldi/Rizky Amelia Pradipta 4. Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto
Based on the latest update dated 25th Jul in MD http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=578109&dl=1, due to further withdrawals, namely from NED and IRL on 23rd Jul, the two pairs promoted from the reserve list were TPE Lu Chia Pin/Chen Hung Ling and the WJC'13 CHN Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen.
rumors updates from China news: Du Pengyu quited from CBA and to be retired, which mean he will not be playing WC this month, and this likely Lin Dan or Tian Houwei will take his place for WC spot...
http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=577640&dl=1 Tian Houwei will be going in Du Pengyu's place, LD was ranked too low (at the time in April).
Further correction : Ah, then there's only 2 persons that stand between him and another title at the WC... Tian Houwei, and LCW.
According to Justin above and BWF Report, Tian Houwei is already qualified. I don't know the rules well so I'm not sure whether or not the BWF would still offer China 4 spots if the rumor about Du PY is true because as I remember, the BWF only gives extra spots when there are a certain number of players rank in a specific range. If they still offer China the 4th spot, the next Chinese MS players are all youngsters and I see no reasons why LYB wouldn't just keep declining the invitations until the BWF invite Lin Dan.
Du Pengyu retirement happened so suddenly, we don't see his action after Thomas Cup semifinal last May.
Not at all. As you can see from visor's attachment, apart from the 4-player maximum, it's all about the reserve list. As shown on the pdf file, the first three cancellations resulted in reserve spots being awarded to Tian, Ueda, and Jayaram. The next will be to Simon Santoso. Lin Dan is not even on the reserve list, which will still have 20 names on it even if Du's spot goes to Santoso. Of the twenty, 5 Indians, 2 Malaysians, 2 Chinese, 1 Dane, and 1 Japanese would need a compatriot to cancel in order to be awarded a reserve spot.
