well, the stronger player won today. whether it was because one is tired or one plays just the way he is supposed to play.
I have mentioned in the past that Lin Dan rarely won 2 back-to-back tourneys held in consecutive weeks. It will be a real test for him in the AG where he has to help Team CHN defend the Team Event first, which means he has to entertain players like Park Sung Hwan, Taufik Hidayat, or Lee Chong Wei en route to the Gold Medal and perhaps to face the same set of players in the Individual Event yet again. Remember...he beat Taufik twice in a row in the Team Event, but to be undone in the most important one...the MS Final in 2006. Anyway, congrats to Lee Chong Wei for a good victory.
For Koo/Tan, dejavu again as they won the first set, led 11-9 at the second set and won only 5 more pts subsequently to lose the second set. The third-set is a giveaway. The key is focus and consistency when facing the CHN pair. Not to let down your guard even when leading. If the match goes to a rubber, more often than not, the CHN pair will win. Fu/Cai certainly will be the favorites when it comes to the AG this November. Their form is so irresistable right now!
i have been reading the last so many pages i even lost count in this thread i think yours is the most well written besides other posters' humor and congratulatory posts yes, lcw should be playing like this whether win or lost, the gap should be narrowed by now as for lin dan, most probably of the back to back tourney.
similar to wc10, still can't guard their house when they are already inside just look at the 3rd set smashing power by the china pair they are still there or getting better? i am starting to believe as one grow older smashing power also increase..lol
Nope, that shows you all have not seen the trend, hahaha. Refer my comment on Day 1 thread http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...Wednesday-22-September)&p=1525600#post1525600
They can advance to final but still can't revenge their Final match in paris last month! KKK made way too much mistakes and played too much fancy shot as usual..
2010 Japan Open MS Final: CHN has a 80% chance to do a clean sweep . So, CHN did not manage do a clean sweep. IMHO, if this 2010 Japan Open MS Final was to be played over 5 times, then CHN could have won it 4 times; That's what I meant about CHN's 80% chance to do a clean sweep here. .
..so, after nearly a yr after their last meeting (partly because of many reasons), where LCW forced LD to a rubber games match, LCW *finally* showed up, held his focus and won against LD.. FHF & CY also *finally* won their first back-to-back SS tourneys in 3 yrs (last one in 2007, S'pore & INA Open SS)..they're indeed in form and we'll see if they can hold on to that at least until the end of the AG.. There's also a mention abt LD's chances of winning the AG MS title with him playing in the team event. If the format is still the same as in 2006 and if LD is going to be played in all of the group's matches, i can see LD playing a max. of 8 matches (all the way til the individual event MS Final, should he go that far). My hunch is, the CHN coaching team and LD know what's at stake and what will be their priority. I would imagine LD will be played sparingly in the team's group matches and he will be prepared and focused on the individual event. Should CJ heal in time and be included, i could foresee them going with BCL and CJ and CL for most of the team's group matches, and probably feature LD starting @ the KO stages. Overall, i can only foresee MAS, KOR and INA challenging CHN for the Men's Team title. ..win or lose for LD in this JO, i think LD's focus will still be on AG..
I agree with you the 2010 YJOSS MS final match between LCW and LD was one of the best display of a singles match by 2 great exponents of badminton.
Ya, you are so observant. Thanks. I always feel good when I see LCW wins and he is so humble about it even at the rostrum where he would invite the losing opponent to join him. His All-England win was a case in point where he did the lap with the Malaysian flag and the applause was deafening.
Did i just hear feel good??? Bingo....just happened that I read The Star this morning... LCW is a humble man....like Nicol David, they produce a lot of World Class results for Malaysia.... lets keep the feel good feeling on...
