Doesn't the BAM PR team school players on conducting interviews? Especially their top stars like LCW. It's not that difficult, you know. Teach him a new sentence every few days and do mock interviews. These days, perception in the public eye can go a long way to determining their opinion on you.
Haha, he is very brave to do an interview in not a native language ... I can well imagine if I were to do an interview in French there would be a lot of "euh... c'est à dire... je suppose ..." I find it quite charming, personally. Nice to see them making the effort to speak English.
You are being serious aren't you?! The Line-Judge had the call that he/she would have been waiting a lifetime to make and he/she botched it up. Look at the footage again - as soon as the shuttle hit the court the umpire looked immediately to the line-judge. The line-judge pointed in without the slightest hesitation. Mr. F
The line judge pointed in, but what I didn't understand was that Tago protested and then the umpire held out his right hand (KT's side) ... was that to indicate that he was switching the decision or more like "shut up" ?
For those who understand chinese & malay, LCW does interviews in chinese(mandarin) & malay pretty well, no problem on perception in public eye on that. LCW could have chosen to do the interview in chinese/malay with interpreter, like in FO 2007.
Yes, to his credit he tried to do the interview in English, which is good. His handlers need to work a little harder to make him more "worldly". After all, aren't we trying to sell badminton to the world, not just Asia.
Mr. Maybe has to cut out 'maybes' in every sentence, like "maybe this is the 100th all-england championship..." It IS the 100th all-england championship, so he doesn't need to say maybe. Like "Maybe I was a little bit nervous, maybe I am very happy" etc. But good effort to speak in English. He should cut out the maybes also to reflect that he has more self-confidence in himself. Let's call him Mr. Maybe
Maybe Just saw the video. Ya, so many maybes. Perhaps (maybe) this is how some people speaks. I remember I once saw David Beckham's interview, he uses a lot of "you know". And there was another personality but I can't remember who.
Yes, it was clearly out. the whole world surely knows about that. LCW saw the line judge pointing it in and the umpire didn't do anything about that like overulling it or something like that, so LCW shout and celebrate with joy.. as easy as that. His name already in the record book. As the 2010 100th All England Badminton Championships winner. Most people will forget about the bad line call thingy. But as for those who will always remember very well, they didn't really live with it but always keep in their heart which is not good for health. Even like that, people won't remember LCW for winning like that in the future because i'm sure he himself don't wanna win a title with this kind of things happened right,? just like during the china open 2007 final lcw vs bcl where bcl won it p/s it's not lee chong wei's fault in this. People tend to get upset with the player(LCW himself) but in reality it's actually the line judge fault Not forgetting the umpire who make a mistake by never over rule it.
