I guess I mean post-surgery rehab which does take quite a while. But then again, if the ligament is ruptured… what does rehab look like if you’re not doing surgery?

Exactly. Maybe she feel bad for Yuki cos due her they didn't go too far at the tokyo Olympics. The coming Paris Olympics, if she does surgery she would definitely miss it, dragging Yuki along. So to make the best out of it and to ensure Yuki gets to play another Olympics. Hirota chose this hard path. Maybe career ending.

Unless they see value in pure participation, I don't see what's the point of forgoing surgery for the sake of qualification just to lose early on in the actual Olympics. But by the looks of it, they might qualify because Matsumoto/Nagahara have been playing like crap lately.

Pretty much the end of the road for Paris qualification for them I believe… unless they win the Badminton Asia Championships or something which is just highly unlikely. So unfortunate… :(
