Lin Dan is my idol hehe. He's chinese and a lefty! Just like me. Chen Hong is also a golden player. His win against LD this year at AE2005 Finals was well deserved and proved that he too, his a spectacular player.

My favorite is Peter Gade - no one has his increadible fighting spirit. If he were in the finals, he would not have given up like Lin Dan did in the 1st set.

that is wrong, lin dan is the most technically skilled of all the world players. his problem lies in his emotional and mental inconsistency.

you cant say he got worse, because that's technically impossible if you still practice, its jsut his competition getting harder...

No, lin dan relies on strength and speed rather than skill. His technique ie the way he moves about the court and plays his shots is not up there with the likes of chen hong, taufik etc. However he is able to produce amazing speed in his smashes especially in the 'round the head' corner.

I think Taufik is technically most skilled. He has the best backhand in men`s singles. And he has the best netplay. He also has the best jumpsmash and best drops (deceptive ones).
    So LD is 2nd.

I have no doubt Chen Hong, Peter Gade, and Taufik have tremendous skill and that Taufik is the best, but we sometimes overlook Lin Dan's skill when we see his world #1 status and his speed. Don't forget that without his skill allowing him to surpass Taufik, he would not have made it to #1 nor been able to have gone through that major run through 2004.

I've rarely seen matches but I'm gonna have to say Peter Gade, Lin Dan, or Taufik Hidayat.

Don't know if any of you have seen him play. I mean Lin Dan, Taufik Hidayat and Peter Gade are great singles players, but Sigit Budiarto of Indonesia that plays doubles. OH MY GOD!!this guy has amazing speed and reflexes. Covers the court very well. I think he's "FLASH" in disguise:D

    updated rankings

on a related note: I'm not sure how ranking points are calculated, but how will the WC results affect singles rankings? How far will Taufik climb up the ladder, and will the top two ladies switch positions?

...I think Lin Dan will keep #1, Taufik will end up #2, and Xingfang and Ning will switch positions.

well, Ive a feeling LCW will topple BaoCL this time, and become 4rth place...
Peter gade, has a chance of being 2nd, and Jonassen 3rd.

Taufik may have a chance of toppling Bao, but probably not LeeCW

I think they both are very thought to play against, but Kenneth has
    more powerful shots.

BTW, beside badminton Kenneth also plays golf, I heard that he is an excellent golfer.

Why doesn't anyone pick female players as one of their favourites  ? Zhang Ning and Lin Dan are my favourite pro badminton players.
