Congrats fajar/rian, first title in 2019.

Rian doesn't look that happy, maybe the loss at the AE last week still hurt him...

    CHINA TWO, THREE NATIONS SHARING
China sweeps singles titles through their number one player, top-seed and favourites in Swiss Open 2019. Shi Yuqi and Chen Yufei passed final hurdles with contrast fashion. Denmark, Indonesia and Korea grab one title each in doubles department.

    DANISH DYNAMITES
Promoted from qualification round, Mathias Bay Smidt/Rikke Soby produce a stellar performance throughout this tournament, earn maiden title of BWF World Tour in an intriguing clash against Indonesia new prospects Rivaldy/Mentari. The exuberant Danish pair played more aggressively in deciding game to smash and fast interception at front area, capitalising their height to conquer their opponent. The Indonesians implemented right tactic with flat drive combined with Rivaldy excellent placement that outmaneuvered Denmark combination. Incidentally that Bay-Smidt/Soby emerge as champion following their illustrious senior Christina Pedersen bid goodbye here in Basel.

    KOREAN FORMULA
The young Matsuyama/Shida once again fail to taste triumphant, suffered defeat to Korean pair. Kim SY/Kong HY halted their journey in Spain Masters, this time another Korean tandem Chang YN/Jung KE thwart their mission. The vast experienced Chang/Jung were more tactical and accurate than their rival, particularly Chiharu Shida who often smashed the shots out of line. With Koreans awake, women's doubles competition will be quite interesting to challenge Japan supremacy.

    CONSOLATION TITLE
Shi Yuqi ambition to defend All England title shattered in semifinal then the Chinese continues his quest in this year to Swiss Open. A riveting final showdown served by two finalists. Praneeth displays terrific strategy that really force Shi running here and there to retrieve the difficult shots also thanks to Praneeth ability to anticipate Shi signature cross-court smash regularly that shake the Chinese confidence. Shi thought and worked hardly to keep his chance alive, only his persistent plus several Indian errors that brought him into deciding game. The match still going close until 7-7 all then the more confident Shi started to find his touch while Praneeth ran out of steam, 21-12. Shi celebrated his victory jubilantly and turned his 2017 silver to gold. Axelsen won Spain Masters then Momota bagged German Open crown and Shi Yuqi topped Swiss Open podium, will these three names dominate MS scene along this year?

    ONE CLASS ABOVE
Newly world number two Chen Yufei demonstrates her true ability to outclass Saena Kawakami, what a tremendous development than two years ago when Kawakami defeated her in China Masters. The differrent Yufei had no serious trouble to book back to back title in European tour. A sigh of relief for China as they finally found new leader to revive women's singles glory, judging by her character and body frame, Chen is the chosen one than the left-hander He Bingjiao who's struggling to make her mark in world's elite despite sparked very promising outlook at the beginning of her career.

    INDONESIA TRADITION
Indonesia maintains men's doubles title in their success story after the veterans Ahsan/Setiawan regained prestigious All England then rotated to the young Alfian/Ardianto to pocket the victory, edged out TPE dangerous duo Lee Y/Wang CL in fast furious style. Having psychological advantage in tight opening game, 21-19, the Indonesians exhibit relentless effort to attack and didn't give space for their rival to develop gameplan. Playing four tournaments in a row, Lee/Wang won title in their first time debut and became runner-up here, certainly this TPE combination become the pair to be reckoned for the favourites in next BWF tour.
