I have created the thread for German Open. I will wait for @CLELY to expand the introduction if she would be so kind to. :):)

in MS, the path of Chou Tien Chen is quite hard.
if Chou wants to go to the final match and is unlucky enough, he will meet:
Lee Cheuk Yiu at the second round
Ng Ka Long or Lee Zii jia at the third round
Nishimoto or Kantaphon at the quarter finals

In contrast, Momota has a very easy path to go to the final match.

Hope Nishimoto take this title. ^-^

I don't think LD would try as hard to win this since All England is just a week later. But he might try to get as far as he could to defend his points here. Would like to see how his form is now compared to that in Thailand Masters.

Lin Dan said: he was old and just focus on main tournaments. German open is just tour 300 and I don't think he will try hard to go to final match, especially the All England will be right after German Open.

So, I think Lin Dan will give up soon

He should at least try to get to QF or SF if he could. Looking at the draw in AE, he will probably face SWH in R2 and SYQ in QF. Not a bright prospect for him especially against SYQ.

Thanks, @yuquall , for starting this thread.

Looking at the list of players that will compete in this tournament, I should say that Japan has a chance to sweep all of 5 titles.

in MD there are 3 Korean and 3 Malaysian pairs each in the same quarter of the draw against fellow countrymen, what a joke

No worries, it's Zhang Nan's first tournament of the year.:)

(Though when Liu/Zhang or Lin Dan lose I might bury this thread down along) :D:D:D:D:p

    Wish them all the best.

When Momota's path is easy, he probably loses in final match. Take WTF 2018 and Indonesia Master as examples.

In this case, I hope Nishimoto will go to the final match.

You want to support Nishimoto, it's fine. I just don't get what you were trying to say here,

Momota's had "easy path" in WC last year but he managed to win the final match, for example.
Could Nishimoto win his final match last time he reached final (Hong Kong Open)?

I noticed that Momoa tends to relax if stakes are not too high like on this tournament. And if nothing motivates him on the way to the final be this title or rival there is a big chance he will not try enough to win against highly motivated player.

Yes I get that. But he mentioned about when Momota having an easy path, then he will lose in the final.
I agree with your sayings that this lower stake tournament might not motivate him highly enough.

i guess CTC might have a chance to win this again.

Because my feeling is like you, I feel that CTC will go to the final match and win the title. So I hope if Momota lose to someone in this tournament, this person should be Nishimoto ^-^

World number one Kento Momota is the clear favourite to pick up first BWF World Tour title in 2019 while second seed and title-holder Chou Tien Chen needs to bring his best if he wants to break another final in Mulheim an der Ruhr, the possible rivals that could hampered Chou to go further will coming from Ng Ka Long, Kenta Nishimoto or Kantaphon Wangcharoen. Momota is slated to meet Lin Dan in final four, the Chinese must clear younger compatriot Lu Guangzu firstly, rematch of THA Masters semifinal early this year.

Women's singles has pretty strong line-up in the participation of Japan top-ranked WS Nozomi Okuhara and defending champion Akane Yamaguchi alongside with Ratchanok Intanon as the front-runner. Yamaguchi has complicated task in opening round, Li Xuerui, 2012 Olympic Champion is struggling to retain her stellar form since made comeback last year. China second-stringers continue their journey to German after last week Spain tour.

Japan and China pairs will be the favourites in men's doubles discipline, interesting to wait whether TPE new combination Lee Y/Wang CL could produce similar sensational run here. It would be huge shock if Japan fails to nail WD crown, almost all top-ten pairs taking part in this Suoer 300 tournament. More intertwined plot and balanced draw to portray mixed doubles department, Watanabe/Higashino, Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai are scheduled to meet in final according their seeding position but several darkhorses, Chan/Goh, Seo/Chae, He/Du and two Indonesian pairs, Jordan/Oktavianti, Faizal/Widjaja may deny the final scenario.
