Yonex FRENCH Open 2016 : QUARTERFINALS (28th October)

The experienced Danish veterans, Kamila/Pedersen, are outfoxed by the young CHN pair, Chen QC/Jia YF, 21-19, 21-19.

Good to see Jia Yifan no longer relying too much on power smashes but going more for placements shots and biding her time to attack.

I wish we could have seen more of Lee Hyun Il over last few years when LD, LCW, CL were eating up all the footage.. No offense meant to the elite three.. I love them but I am a big fan of LHI now.
I just love the way he deals with the youngsters. And the way he outfoxed VA in two matches is just awesome, one of them at his home turf! VA's facial expressions were priceless.

@Nine Tailed Fox: This is the worst tournament streaming I've ever witnessed. That awful angle from above showing almost three courts at once, the glare on the floor and now the official BWF YouTube stream is even asynchronous! Can it get any worse?!

Waiting for rumours

''French Open Broadcasters to increase camera height further to rival Eiffel tower view. "

This year only 25% of other two courts are visible. But last year's 50 % view of other courts along with green flash being vomited everywhere was worthy of Police charge.

Jonatan Christie playing against China rising star now. Doing well so far, just enjoying watching him play. He's by far my favourite MS for the last couple of years, and still a teenager.

Shi Yuqi must feel a bit odd - he's usually almost always the youngest on the court. Now he's facing someone who's more than a year younger than him! Jonatan Christie leads 11-5.

GC says Shi Yuqi reminds her of Zhao Jianhua in build. If only he's half as good now and then continue to improve to be like him. Dream on.

Hope 2017 will be Jonatan Christie's big breakthrough year. He'll be turning 20 and his physical strength should be peaking. His movement is already excellent - he has the chance to take MS to the next level, much like CM has done with Women's Singles.

I'd like to hear Steen Peder or whatever his name is now. Hopefully he sees the light in Jonatan Christie now hehe. Mustofa, Ginting etc never impressed me.

Shi Yuqi going to go hard now. Should be a good match now. If there's one thing that Jonatan Christie lacks, it's consistency.

Shi Yuqi playing much better at net now. A few errors from Jonatan Christie too, and has become quite passive.
