Justin, What happened to a whole host of players that came up in 2013-2014? Like Bao Yixin, Tang Jinhua?
I'm not sure what's happening to Tang Jinhua (hope it's not injury or illness), she's withdrawn from all the last few SS tournaments, including this one, but Bao Yixin is back with a new partner in XD, Li Junhui, and I expect she'll be playing WD too.
I think Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen has reached a stage where they are beginning to feel some burden of the pressure of expectations and they are trying to cope.
The CHN youngsters must learn to let themselves go and handle the pressure better, takes time to gain the experience.
What happened to their performance? At one point they were winning everything in the world. In fact there were too many very very good WD players from China. Bao Yixin/ Tang Yuan Ting as far as I remember won everything. But they were separated. Why?
Tang Yuanting was given to Yu Yang to give the latter another shot at the Olympics for what happened at LOG'12 leaving Bao Yixin to concentrate on XD and they unfortunately lost the Olympic spot to XC/MJ at the eleventh hour. As we know, the rest of the WD were shuffled around too much resulting in the screw-up when Zhao Yunlei suddenly withdrew from the WD with Tian Qing for reasons we already know.
strange, I thought the umpire can still overrule the line judge even without a challenge from a player????
If I am not mistaken Tang Jinhua is actually born in Indonesia. She is the daughter of Tang Xianhu who is formerly an Indonesian MS player I think.
