so you wish INA team to be out too.. Sad...sad for badminton. to lose in such a manner, or to win for that matter.

I don’t think this comment is very fair. The UK isn’t racist for not letting some people play badminton. We have been struggling in the UK with covid and finally managed to get control recently. Any measures to ensure we don’t have to spend the rest of the year with restrictions is very welcome. Even if it means this great tournament suffers.

(Yes, I know that some of the Indonesian badminton players have been vaccinated but there’s still no concrete evidence vaccination prevents transmitting the virus, although it seems somewhat likely)

    Please consider removing your comment.

I want all the teams in but you can’t have a rule during a pandemic and then completely ignore it just because it doesn’t fully suit you. Everyone was aware of the rules when signing up. This is just a sad situation.

how is that fair? Have all the INA players retested and came back negative? All INA players had been vaccinated coming to UK. Some of them had also played today. UK might as well gave walkover win to Matthew Clare/Ethan Van Leeuwen and Ben Lane/Sean Vendy in the 1st place.

Yes according to the rules you are absolutely right ! So there is a plane with maybe 200 people from Indonesia to London , maybe on Saturday or Sunday. Maybe 30 or 40 of them are Team Indonesia , players , coaches and officials and 170 "normal people." They all have to be tested in GB at the day of coming. Team Indonesia is "clean." One "normal" passenger is positive and the government doesn't have the result until three or four days later?
This is an unbelievable process from the UK government to report the result after several days to All England. If things had turned out really bad, it could have been that a player from Indonesia would have been pulled off the field in the middle of the game. This is a terrible handling.

It is the government policy, not at the hands of the tournament. Unless of course you’re suggesting the UK government have purposely created this rule to make sure the INA badminton team can’t play in a tournament that most of the government ministers have never even heard of.

The delay in results is typically not so important because you are meant to isolate at home or in a designated hotel for 10 days on arrival in the UK. They would not speed up the process just because this flight had the INA badminton team on board. You are only meant to travel to the UK currently if it is absolutely essential. Some would argue a badminton tournament was a luxury and not essential.

INA might as well ask for a refund from BWF for buying the right to televise the tournament. What an idiot BWF.

If it meant so much to you, why don’t you pay next time to charter an aeroplane for the whole INA team?

On 2nd thought, INA contingent should have boarded a private jet owned by the big DJARUM boss to London :(

Yes, of course you're right. However, the flight to the tournament is certainly not a luxury trip or something like that. Almost two weeks ago I was an official at the Swiss Open and before the tournament I received a certificate from the organizer that my trip was absolutely necessary for work. Just one question: Travelers from e.g. Indonesia must first be quarantined in a hotel for ten days. Do you also have to show a negative test upon entry? Perhaps that one person's test that was then taken in England was also false positive?

it is a sad situation , also a bad situation and its also shine a bad light on AllEngland. Mentally, I dont think INA team will win Olympic so close to his incident. Shame on all the parties involved.

and to be fair ? what is the rule? there is no rule. otherwise how the hell the 7 positive cases yesterday from Denmark/India/Thailand is allowed to play and these are team officials which means the whole team has to be withdrawn as close contacts

How the hell can they play , say 24 hours or maybe less after tested positive? while the results take 3-4 days to come out showing they are positives and miraculously , were they retested (??) and it came out in less than 12 hours? and suddenly they are cleared to play, what a joke..

I know BWF doesnt want to look bad, but these 7 cases thing and indonesia getting withdrawn will show how bad the management and loopsided it is.

As you can see, the positive tests of the anonymous and the 7 positive tests came out 3-4 days after they taken the tests.

Theres lots of shady things going on there. There isnt much talk about how these 7 suddenly tested negative and cleared to play for their teams.

Come on man let's stop the bull.. and back in topic. THE FACT IS (here's coming from Marcus F. Gideon | INA's MD player)

"@marcusfernaldig Tonight we’re in shock to hear the news that we (indonesian players & officials) have to withdrawn from all england due to an anonymous passenger tested + for covid that board the same flight as we did. It have to be taken to notice that BWF has failed to organized this matter. Before the flight, all of the Indonesia team have been tested negative & we were also been re-tested by the time we reached the hotel. Some of you may notice that the game today was delayed prior to 7 positive cases they found in other team members (other country). After they have been retested, the result were ALL TURNED NEGATIVE. So why don’t we also have the same justice here? And if there are strict rules for entering the British area due to covid, BWF should have enrolled a bubble system that guarantee our safety. Players should have undergone a quarantine before the event. To be fair, the person who has been tested + should have undergo another test because truly we have no faith anymore in the covid’s test they ran because as you all can see all the 7 positive cases can turned into 7 negative cases in just 1 day."

And.. this is from me, we all know what happened there in match Daddies vs British couple couple hours ago.. I'm talking about the Service Judge!
Alright now we can have conclusion that even Britain Gov, BWF, Judges, or who else.. just wanted to get rid off Indonesian's player out of tournament at the first place. so..badminton now has been used for political tools. you can deny all..but we're not blind ! #AllEngland2021Failed

How is Axelsen even allowed to play when his coaches tested positive

I can understand if all the Denmark, Thailand and India team isnt allowed to play as well. Otherwise these are just cherry pickings.
