    California,
That's not the new site for playbadminton.com. I too have been having trouble getting access to the site. Haven't gotten round to contacting Rudy Tan about it yet. Maybe I should to find out what's going on.

PlayBadminton site gets a lot of pressure from OCBC to limit posting on discussion that negatively impact OCBC. Is it still worth the effort for Rudy/Cora? The official response (from Cora) for their problem is “Too much traffic for the video download” and “Will be back soon!” No specific date given.

    OCBC

Interesting...I've followed the whole OCBC vs Jinasada thread and have found that both Rudy & Cora are very diplomatic about the whole issue and actually told the posters not to post inunedos and rumours, etc.

It would seems very silly of OCBC to try and influence something that is outside their scope of control. Anyhow, regardless, I do hope that Rudy/Cora get the site back up again. It's another nice badminton resource for the badminton community.

i use the playbadminton site to show non-badminton people the dynamic of badminton. Many were wowed. I think those videos are useful to attract more spectators to the sport of badminton and eventually work its way up to tv network.
    (me only dreaming here)

i've read a little bit of the thread also. a lot of whining and complains about OCBC. but to WWC's point, this is a country with free speech, i am surprised if OCBC has any influence on the operation of PB.com .

Cora and Rudy does have a pretty tough crowd to deal with there. i will be pulling my hair off if posters here ever become so juvenile. however, those are their target client so i guess they have to deal with it.

i originally thought PB used up their bandwidth quota for october and would be back by november (today). but it seems like they are still offline. i think they are a nice site and hope they will be back.

if bandwidth was the cause of the blackout. perhaps they should reconsider offering videos. at this stage of the internet, videos are still expensive a media to offer.

    as predicted. hehe. ;)

perhaps in the future, they should host the website itself in one host. and the video in another. so if the video ones goes down with too much traffic, the main website will still be active..

Yeah, Rudy posted a note to said that they have maxed out the bandwidth on one server and almost max out on the second server due to the streaming videos.

They are thinking of providing the videos for downloading.

TOMike, the web site is as specified on the thread subject, www.playbadminton.com

From my understanding of OCBC & USAB from an outsiders view, the owner of OCBC is also USBA president.

Since OCBC is a private organisation and USAB is not, it then gets difficult to defend decisions that may be interpreted as conflicts of interest, despite the personal donations that are made.

My own personal feeling is that the USBA president needs to be very transparent to deflect such criticisms. Much more so than other people because of the potential conflicts of interest.

This happens in many organisations. Hopefully, the trash talk won't spill over to BF.
