and PG takes it 21-18! 25-23 / 7-21 / 21-18 Shon actually won more points (62 vs 53) than Peter. just that Peter distributed it to win.
Finger Cross Gade can make it though. shuttles speed in WC were a lot faster than what they had in Manchester during Euro Championship. I hope PG can make advantage of the shuttle speed consider he is the more agile of the 2!
Quite tight in the end after all! Let's just call it a "he kwew what he was doing all the way" . It seems a decent tourney approach not unfamilliar to Taufik but you'd think they'd spent even less energy delivering a straight KO sometimes. But as long as you can scrape through on reserves, why not ... You'd think at least one of all those danish fans would have brought a camcorder btw but from the glimpses during the XD match it didn't look like it.
..if not mistaken, the member who coined/gave Pi Hongyan the nickname of Lady Pi is none other than our French BCer & one of badzine reps, Syaoran Style..maybe he can give us his explanation as to why he gave her that nickname..my guess is, he gave that nickname out of respect (age-wise).. One of the earlier threads mentioning Lady Pi.. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?15198
Has a 21-0 scoreline ever happened before in the World Championships history? Btw, for those who wondered whether the 21-0 scoreboard is the 1st ever in the history of IBF/BWF World Championships history, then the answer is a resounding yes. At least in the current scoring system. However, in the previous scoring system, a scoreline containing 0 (zero) for pts has happened before. Many times as a matter fact. The most recent one was during the 2005 WC when the scoring systems used were 15 pts & 11 pts: http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...08EAF4-4727-465E-9A5A-32D246BF9790&player=111 http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...08EAF4-4727-465E-9A5A-32D246BF9790&player=231 http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/match.aspx?id=9108EAF4-4727-465E-9A5A-32D246BF9790&match=292 http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/match.aspx?id=9108EAF4-4727-465E-9A5A-32D246BF9790&match=288
Thas was incrediible when the Finland girls scored their first point the crowd cheered for 'em as if they were French
My gameplan On his FB, Peter admitted that he let go of the 2nd game to conserve his energy for the 3rd. Peter Gade Hey Guys, well, I overcame a tough match this evening against Wan Shon Ho from korea. 74 minutes – a long tough match and I had to let go of the 2nd set to save my energy for the 3rd. It was a good decision and was able to pull through in the end. Peter Gade Wan is a strong player and once again I had to go through 3 sets to beat him. I didn’t play at my best all the way through the game but I managed to take use of the elements that worked today and overcome a tough opponent. And once again I have to mention the french crowd – just amazing...
