CBA pushed their luck too far in WD, experimenting, mixing and matching ,and shuffling their WD combinations too much and too long until there's not enough time to get more than three pairs in the top 8 for the OG qualifications, leaving them with little room to manoeuvre.
Indeed, Tian Qing could've partnered someone else such as Tang Jinhua, Zhong Qianxin, or even Bao Yixin to form another excellent pair, in addition to other potential combinations that could have a crack at Rio. Instead, now CHN is stuck with an off-peak Yu Yang with a rising star, Tang Yuanting, and another pair, the Luo twins, that's less than ideal. What a pity.
Overall, for this Olympics , CHN is sending a compromised lineup, what with the new BWF/NOC quota rule and their MD struggling to be among the best in the world, not to mention the absence of any real advantage in WS. On paper, the prospects is suddenly not looking very bright for Team CHN.
