    Hey BC group!

I have a Carlton Carbon Racket for the past few years (+5 years).

I had a BG 65 TI (my first string) on the racket at an unknown tension due to being oblivious about string + tension.

Now that the string broke by practicing in my garage (Long story haha), there are no marking as to what the reco tension is on the racket.

    Any ideas?

    Heres a few snaps below

well, there is no way we know what tension did you put at that time

but usually stringer would put around 20+ lbs

and after 5 years, I think it will drop to around 16-18lbs

    Interesting.

Can I do 20-21lbs because I heard the tension drops -2lbs after a couple weeks of play.

My level of play is: Beg- Interm. I can play shots well, but recently learned different racket holding techniques (youtube). No formal training. Surprised how far I've gotten in tournaments without such basic knowledge

What tension do you reco based on my skill + racket condition?
    - Considering Bg80 as my next string of choice

well usually 20-22 lbs is the starting point
I chose 21lbs for my first racket (then going up to 23 then 24 lbs)

BG80 is a good string, or if you want something different, BG66 UM or zymax string also nice

Okay, I will take a look if my stringer has those options.

I did speak to him earlier on, he says he's got BG80 and BG80 Power. Whats the difference here?

BG80 power is the new version of BG80 (and BG80 power is more expensive)

what is your racket? maybe it is time to buy a new racket? (instead of using the money to string your old racket)

OH MY LAWWRRDD. I tried out the new string yesterday. And Boy can I tell you, my shots have improved a good 50% !!!!!!!!!

I hear this nice spanking sound like smacking a baby's bum. Its so clear and evident. My smashes are ALOT faster and more refined. I really should of done this before. Im guessing my tension previously was around 15-16.

Not looking forward to the -2 lbs over the next couple weeks. But defiantly will consider this as a main factor in stringing next time.

    Thanks everyone!
