Gelora bung Karno stadium is a place for football match. It should be ISTORA SENAYAN.. The place where TC/UC 2008 were held..

Check the invitation for Indonesia Open at Badminton World Federation. I just copy and paste the venue from there.
The invitation sent to Federation members stated the venue where I copy and paste in my reply. Maybe they made a mistake. However, I'm sure we are referring to the same place.
Ya, We are referring to the same place. the location is in Senayan sports Complex, it has Gelora bung karno Stadium, Istora Senayan, Tennis Indoor senayan, Jakarta Convention center & any other places for sport event inside the complex.. maybe it's like BUKIT JALIL in Malaysia..
btw, its going to be impossible for a badminton tournament to be held in a large football field Gelora bung karno Stadium
First Blow To INA Open Courtesy of The Star: Tuesday April 21, 2009 Top shuttlers asked to skip Indonesian Open for Mini Olympics KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s top shuttlers have been asked to skip the Indonesian Open to give priority to a major inaugural local sport event. The Indonesian Open from June 16-21 is one of the prominent legs in the Super Series. But instead of heading to Jakarta, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) players will now stay put to battle among themselves in Malaysia’s inaugural Mini Olympics, which is being hosted by the National Sports Council (NSC). The Mini Olympics is scheduled from June 19-21 at the Bukit Jalil Sports Complex. Besides badminton, the other sports in the Games are archery, athletics, aquatics, cycling, gymnastics, shooting and weightlifting. The Mini Olympics will be a biennial event, which will be held on alternate years to the Malaysian Games (Sukma). In the future, there are plans to elevate the status of the event by inviting foreign participation. For the badminton competition, all the five events – the men and women’s singles and the three doubles - men, women and mixed – will have eight representatives. Other sports will also use the exact format used in the Olympic Games. Yesterday, national doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky said that his elite and elite back-up players would skip the Open in Indonesia. It is the first Super Series that Malaysia will not be represented by their top players. “We have been given a directive by the BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) to drop the Indonesian Open from our programme,” said Rexy after a training session. “The government is trying something new and we will participate in it.” The decision will affect BAM’s players who have qualified for the World Championships in Hyderabad, India from Aug 10-16. The World Championships-bound players will have one tournament fewer to strengthen their seedings for the world meet. The seeding of the players will be based on July 12 world ranking. The BAM qualifiers for the world meet are Lee Chong Wei, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif, Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty and Ng Hui Lin. Fairuzizuan-Zakry are the men’s doubles defending champions in the Indonesian Open. With the Indonesian Open out of the plan, Rexy will be sending his elite players for the Sudirman Cup (May 10-17), Pahang Open (May 26-29), Singapore Open (June 9-14), Malaysian Open Grand Prix (June 23-28) and the Philippines Open (May 30-July 5). The BAM’s general manager Kenny Goh confirmed that Malaysia’s cream of the crop are not going to the Indonesian Open. “Only those players who are not involved in the Mini Olympics will be sent to the Indonesian Open. Our top players will compete in the Mini Olympics as this is a directive from the NSC,” said Kenny.
Thats a huge bump by Indonesian organizers. But i guess there will be Malaysians badminton fans watching it.
Well, that's interesting news.It shows that MAS top players are also prepared to miss tournaments and ranking point opportunities, even huge point losses (like FUZZY, being defending champions).
whoa let's hope that there's no other team who'll skip ina ss..it's been quite some time here, since the last big tournament..
Update to the news of Msia top players not going IO : NSC and the committee for the Mini Olympics have decided that Baddy's Mini Oympics will be held at a different date, NOT June 19-21, to allow the shuttlers to participate in IO. The other 7 sports are free in June but busy in July with Asian Youth Sports while baddy has a very tight schedule in June with SO, IO, Msia Gp Gold, plus Philipines Open. News was from today's Harian Metro : http://www.hmetro.com.my/Current_News/myMetro/Wednesday/Arena/20090506052946/Article/index_html Hope it's not too late for them to register. Fuzzy pair will be happy, they'll lose a lot of points if they dont participate IO.
