we have reached 500,000 posts today. that's HALF a MILLION!

i just want to thank everybody contributing to this really spectacular milestone for the BC forum. when i first started the site, i had no idea how big it will eventually grow; i had no idea it will be graced with tens of thousands of members who come to share their love and knowledge of badminton; i had no idea it will become the larger badminton site in the world.

but i did have a hope that it will be a useful hangout for badminton fans, and i hope everyone who come here feels that we have achieved that hope of mine.

and thanks the team of moderators for always making sure the forums are in order despite their busy daily schedules.

cheers everyone. please continue to share and spread your love and passion for badminton.

    this is very cool.

    ^^Congrats also..^^

...yes, i, for one, certainly have benefited from finding out and learning a lot in this forum...I certainly think, we all should appreciate what kwun has provided for us all...And i agree with what kwun wrote, this place has been a "useful hangout", maybe even more..:D;)
I, too, never expected to be a part of this special forum and special group of badminton lovers/fanatics/enthusiasts/fans/supporters from all over the world...On that note, let us all keep supporting BC and make the game of badminton more popular!..[IMG];) :D :)

Oh, btw, who was that "500,000th poster"?? ...is it possible to find out and perhaps give a semi-congrats as well to him/her??..hehe:D ;)

Thank goodness for my useless 1800+ postings.:D :D

Kwun, congrats on the undeniable success of BC and 500,000 posts. This website has been such a magnet to badminton addicts worldwide that I'm sure many would call this their "home". The success is attributable as much to the person who runs it as to us enthusiasts who squat there (well, some anyway:p )

Here's to the next 1/2 million. CHEERS:)

Congrats to BadmintonCentral, to its members, and a special THX to Kwun for achieving this 500K milestone.

It would be interesting to see a growth chart of BC based on the number of posts and the number of members. :) I guess such data would not exist?

    Cheers!

I'll play the role of devil's advocate (you saw that coming, didn't you?) and ask the question:

Does 500,000 posts make BC the largest badminton forum in the world?

    If so, why?

And to the theoretical note above; does reaching 1,000,000 make BC any different from when it was 500,000 or 100,000?

ah, nice one, i'm sure the next half a mil will be reached in a much shorter time than the first half a mil, considering how popular the forum is today and the number of members it currently has.

Wow! Nice work on sustaining this forum for some 7+ years? I'm still new here, and I'm glad I was a small part of the 500000 :)

    Congrats.

Now that's a milestone. We should have a BC'er gathering when we reached 1 million! At this rate, it shouldn't take too long.

As a matter of fact, actually..

..there is another thread which has a similar link to what you're wondering about. See this thread: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38732&page=2(post #23) and yes, that link has a chart table which looks like a stock market index;)

yeah, i think so. there is a website big-boards.com which keep tracks of all forum in world that has over 500,000 posts. BadmintonCentral is the only one that is related to badminton. we just got accepted to the big-boards list yesterday, ranked #1857... ;)

there are some big Chinese language forums in China as well, but their sizes are in the uppermost 3xx,xxx range only.

depends on the definition of "different", i guess. a 500k forum and a 1mil forum are both "forums", so they are the same that way.

however, if you take a look at the current contents, the discussions of the latest event, the historical archive of prior events, the amount of knowledge and passion poured in by the members over time and currently, then i think the 1mil forum is more substantial.

you did bring out a good point (if that's really your point), and that is that the actual number of posts doesn't really matter, what matters is the community and the active discussion about badminton. the number 500,000 is merely an indicator of how well the forum has been received.

How about having a special prize for the 1 millionth poster.

I am also proud to on BC. I have learned so much on this forum but not confident enough to give sound advice. Still learning and will always learn from everyone here.

Lets make a special T-Shirt for the 1 millionth poster when we reach that milestone. Make sure all the posts are quailtity and not just quantity.

    Cheers,

    D-Man

    Woohoo!

Nice job and congrats kwun, moderators and all members!

Although I'm a new-ishbie here:D I have been browsing the forum for info etc for a while before finally deciding to register (being a lazy git and all!)

Lets hope that when we get up to the 1mil post mark, some badminton manufacturer somewhere would come up with a BC racket/apparel (I'm a wishful thinker! :p)
