Roslin Hashim...he is true blue laid back retriever. His matches against peter or chen hong always go past 90 mins.

You're probably right. Hwang Hye-youn is one to watch for the future. She took out two top Japanese women earlier this year but she still has a long way to go. This is her first year playing international events. Salakjit's experience will probably give her the edge.

There are a few withdrawals/retirement on the opening day of the WC.

Besides Ronald Susilo and Robertson/Emms, Sang Yang and Zheng Bo will most probably be the latest to be added to the list. I read in a Chinese website , Zheng Bo is hospitalised due to medication's allergy while the Chinese team is trying to appeal for a change in Sang Yang's partner, the chance is grim.

It is a turnabout for Hafiz and Chong Tan Fook/ Chew Choon Eng now. They will have an easier hurdle to clear in the second round.

This WC has been hit by a string of withdrawals, injuries and no-shows.

Firstly, don't forget the Pakistani MD pair who can't get a visa in time. This allows the top seeds Eirksen/Lundgaard to go straight to the third round on Thursday, as both pairs have byes in the first round.

Ronald's unfortunate incident (and he was just two points away from finishing, too - if the match was over, he wouldn't have injured himself, right?)
gives some relief to his opponents (especially Hafiz) in a still tricky draw.

Another blow for Singapore is the withdrawal (reason unknown) of Sari/Xing WD pair, giving a walkover to an American pair.

Scanning through today's results so far, there is another retirement and two other walkovers, but these are minor and they are not the favourites to win anyway.

If Zheng Bo was really hospitalised, it is another huge blow to the tournament.

Did anyone see the Gade/Yang match? There was one clear from Yang that was heading out the side line and Gade was just standing there watching it, but then the bird curved and landed just inside the line. It was kinda funny seeing the expression on Gade's face. I hear that alot of the players were complaining about the draft from the A/C in the Arena.
