I am currently participating in a tournament wherein i found this weird rule.

If you are participating in two events ( Say MS and XD) and if you don't turn up for one event due to traffic delay or any other reason and your opponent gets walkover,...then you are automatically removed from the other event also.

Is this rule followed in all Badminton tournaments ?

This is a common rule in many, but not all tournaments, especially at higher levels. For instance, all international BWF tournaments follow this rule per §14.1.4 of the General Competition Regulations.

It prevents competitors from pulling out of one discipline in the later stages of a tournament, in order to increase their chances in another discipline. For instance, if a player faces the a very strong pair in doubles, but a singles opponent on their level, they might decide not to play doubles (or resign at 0:0) in order to conserve energy for singles.

But what if they play half a game, and then call it quits, and withdraw?

No regulation will bar players from totally resigning from the tournament at any point - that's what happening if the player gets injured, after all.

If your question is what happens if you resign during a doubles match and are still scheduled to play a singles match, it depends. Typically (for instance, by BWF regulations), the player who did resign is barred from any further competition in the same tournament, but their partner can play on in other disciplines.
