It takes years to make top players and if I am not mistaken Kuan Ben Hong is already 23 years old. At that age, not sure how many titles Taufik, Peter Gade, and Lin Dan have already won. I think Mal needs to start focusing on younger players to give them more exposure to international tournaments.

Hahaha....you can see there were no feeling and expression when KBH was losing fast. Its like he expected KBH to lose. Cant blame him too as KBH was being himself that day. Cant suddenly hope for miracle from KBH.

He is already 23 and from his performance so far nothing tell us that he has the potential to be a world class player. Many China players already catch the world's eyes before 23. Malaysia is in danger of no good single players coming up to challenge the world.

During Thomas cup qualifying round 2004, Chong Wei was a newcomer and played his first Thomas Cup against Lin Dan(Their first encounter too i think). Chong Wei was improving then and he gave a good fight to Lin Dan. I was impressed by Chong Wei and even Lin Dan praised him after the match, as he didn't expect Chong Wei to play so good (Chong Wei was just starting to make impact in world badminton stage at that time). He was lagging behind at the 2nd game and Misbun just walked away, knowing that Chong Wei couldn't win the match.Chong Wei was sad after the match and cried. He said that he tried to find his coach (as he usually does esp when he is lagging) during the match but couldn't and it seemed to him that the coach had lost faith in him.

This is not the attitude that a coach should have.He should stay and analyze Chong Wei's game in order to groom him as a top player later.

This is a news from chinapress. I'm really impressed with LCW attitute.
They face the failure with no excuses and not blaming the venue, lights or anything. :)
with this attitute, the future is bright for sure! :D

aihs.. i regretted for not going up to chong wei after the match..
i thought i might be rude to disturb him during that time..
so i remain silent and sit there quietly.. (only my friend and i who are malaysian fans sitting near them)
    i m so regretted now..
will he think that i m blaming him or the whole team watever..
    no please..
yeah, i really like his attitude!
    he already knows his target
he already knows that how he can be no 1
    he's sure of himself
so, he'll do it coz he can do it!

sometimes maybe we think too much. >_<
I don't think he will think like that tho, he took it well, dissapointed is for sure, but from their speech we know they are clear about the problems, and they are focusing it now.
There are not much time for them to sink in dissapointment. They know they have to move on and show to the world we have the ability to be the best, not because of luck, but with real strength! :p

For all blaming KBH: I think he's good player:
    1) His opponent was strong
    2) In 2nd set he could keep up with him
    3) He make some mistake with too high short service:
You could say: Too high short service: He must be very bad.
But it shows he was only very nervous because he knew he's not in a strong position speaking about supporters.
    4) 23 is too old? But denmark average 31. Biological age not real age. He look like 20.
    KBH BOLEH!

Zhang Ning only broke into the world circuit at the age of 26 (not pretty sure) after she attended a Thomas Camp organised by L.Yongbo. It was a three-month closed-camp where all the players have no access with the outside world. Even the location of the camp was made secret to the family members. The result was good and Zhang Ning is now the world top player.

As for Malaysia, they only had 2-week camp at Kuching, Sarawak which was so highly publicised until the public even went to the players' hotel to take photos. Publicity kills!!!

So to KBH, it's never too late. I can see that he is trying very hard to prove himself that's why he asked Yap to field him for the Korea's match. He is at the same junior batch as LCW, Lin Dan, Bao Chunlai and Sony. All his compatriots had notched great achievements. Definitely KBH feels uneasy about this, who isn't anyway?

Just take Zhang Ning as an example.....She waited until the age of 26 to break through. KBH, I believe your day will come soon.

Yes, KBH and Malaysia team will succeed one day. We will regain the Thomas cup. It's just the matter of time. The most important thing is players attitude. Keep humble and success is not far from sight:)

Well not just Malaysia but Indonesia and Denmark especially!

I don't think I know of any youngster that can replace Peter GADE & Kenneth Jonassen and any double specialists to take JE & MLH's spots. Are there not enough youngster interested in badminton? I know their population pool is very very small compared to the rest of the world but we just need a few, about 15 good solids players (3 in every categories) or so. At least with MAS & INA they have inspiring youngsters that they can train and bring up but I don't see that happening for Denmark at all.

Denmark badminton would completely falter if this doesn't start happening soon enough. It would be a major loss for our sport, as Denmark is the strong support of western/European badminton countries against the eastern/Asian badminton countries.

That's why MLH still play even though he is 37. Don't worry..the senior players in Denmark will only retire when there is someone to replace them. I'm sure kenneth will go on for another few more years.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that we are still waiting for a Camilla Martin replacement for a while now!
