I think XIA or Ronald could beat Hafiz.
Hafize always lost to Ronlad before. and also Don't underestimate the championship's ability!

As for Roslin, he cant beat the home favorite-Boonsak again? I can't image!

Judging from the current form and achievement, I think Hashim brothers can make a history, facing each others in the final. Let see....

I would love to see Hashim brothers to face each other in the finals. I think it will be going to be a tough game since both understand each other's game so well. But Roslin has beaten the younger brother twice in International outings. Well now we have both improved version of Hashim brothers. Anyway will see how the games going on between the two of them against their other opponents enroute to the finals.

Yes, Kendrick must be very disappointed for not being able to wrap up the second game and match, having won the first convincingly 15-8. He lost the second by a whisker at 16-17 and subsequently fell apart in the decider and lost submissively, 4-15, all within an hour and ten minutes. :crying:

Today (Friday), the QFinals will be completed.

    MS
Kenneth v Ng Wei - Kenneth too strong for Ng Wei
Roslin v Boonsak - Roslin in fine vein of form; Boonsak playing at home
Joppien v Hafiz - Hafiz too strong for Joppien
Ronald v Xia - both seems to be struggling; again Xia has the pedigree

    WS
Pi v Fransisca - no match
Xu v Salakjit - no match
Xing Aiying v Kanako - Xing must have played well to beat Hallam; tight match but I think Kanako will take it
Yao Jie v Seo Yoon Hee - no match

    MD (R16 & QFinal)
1st Quarter: Fully expect LP/JR to advance to the semis
    2nd Q: Laybourn/Steffensen v Ha/Han Sang Hoon Qfinal is on the cards
3rd Q: Gunawan/Bach v Sudket/Patapol should be exciting for the Thai crowd. The winner will play Choong/Chew or Tan/Ong, probably the former.
4th Q: Fully expect Jung Jae Sung/Lee Jae Jin to advance to the semis

    WD (R16 & QFinal)
    1st Q: Fully expect Saralee/Sathinee to advance
2nd Q: Lee Hyo Jung/Lee Kyung Won too strong here
3rd Q: A bit of an uncertainty here, because there is a Chinese qualifier, Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei; still expect Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia to advance
4th Q: Zhang Dan/Zhang Yawen heavy favourites here

    XD
Sudket/Saralee v Hwang Ji Man/Hwang Yu Mi - easy for Thais
Laybourn/Juhl v Saputra/Li Yujia - Singaporeans defeated Jung Jae Sung/Lee Kyung Won, goes on to show that it's not that easy to switch from unmixed doubles to mixed doubles; however Laybourn/Juhl are experienced in the mixed type and therefore are the favourites
Lee Jae Jin/Lee Hyo Jung v Han Sang Hoon/Jun Woul Sik - Lees too strong
Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen v Mogensen/Olsen - hard to say; don't know either team really well

    Hafiz, Roslin in last eight

    TheStar
BANGKOK: The Hashim brothers – Hafiz and Roslin – strolled into the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open men's singles yesterday but youngster Kuan Beng Hong crashed out after taking world champion Xia Xuanze of China to the distance.

The 22-year-old Beng Hong battled world number 10 Xuanze for 70 minutes before going down 9-15, 15-7, 8-15 in the third round.

The Hashim brothers, the only Malaysian singles shuttlers in the last eight, had an easier time. The 23-year-old Hafiz breezed past compatriot Sairul Amar Ayob who retired while trailing 8-15, 0-1 in their third round clash. Elder brother Roslin beat Holland's Dicky Palyama 15-9, 15-12.

Hafiz, winner of the Swiss Open two weeks ago, will take on Germany's Bjoern Joppien. The third seeded Malaysian is expected to reach the semi-finals without much problems.

Roslin however, can expect a tough fight against defending champion and home favourite Boonsak Ponsana today.

On paper though, Roslin holds the advantage, having beaten the Athens Olympic Games quarter-finalist twice last year – at the Swiss Open and Thomas Cup Finals in Jakarta.

Yesterday, top seed Kenneth Jonassen also made it into the last eight after eliminating world junior champion Chen Jin 15-8, 15-9. He will meet Ng Wei of Hong Kong, who ousted Malaysian Ismail Saman 15-8, 15-8.

In the men's doubles, five Malaysian pairs advanced to the second round except for world junior champions Tan Boon Heong-Hoon Thien How.

Boon Heong-Thien How went down fighting 15-9, 14-17, 15-17 to Japanese Tadashi Ohtsuka-Keita Masuda in a one-hour-25-minutes battle in the first round yesterday.

The others who cleared their first round hurdles are Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Lin Woon Fui, Gan Teik Chai-Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif, Choong Tan Fook-Chew Choon Eng, Chan Chong Ming-Koo Kien Keat and Tan Bin Shen-Ong Soon Hock.

Malaysia will have at least one pair in the quarter-finals with Tan Fook-Choon Eng taking on youngsters Bin Shen-Soon Hock in a second round tie.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's challenge in the women's singles ended when Wong Mew Choo went down 7-11, 10-13 to Japanese Kanako Yonekura in the second round.

    QFinals
JR/LP will play Lin Woon Fui/Fairuz
Ha Tae Kwon/Han Sang Hoon will play Gan Teik Chai/Zakry (who defeated Laybourn/Steffensen)
    Choong/Chew will play Bach/Gunawan (who defeated Sudket/Patapol)
Chan/Koo will play Jung Jae Sung/Lee Jae Jin
How many Malaysians will survive the Qfinals? I think not more than one pair.
Even Choong/Chew will have a tough time.

In the WD, no major surprises in the R16. Except Chinese pair, Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei defeated Nielsen/Harder, and we'll see how they do against Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia. The other 3 Qfinals should be easy for the favourites.

This new Thailand Open website is a great improvement. I particularly like the way they reported the results, winners' names first.

    I like the website too.

I just flicked through the past winners and saw that in 2001 Sigit won the tournament with Luluk! He has won tournaments with many diff players (Halim, Candra, Trikush +Luluk)

    SF Line up WS:

    Pi Vs Xu

All matches in comfortable straight games, Pi getting a walkover.
