mmm, he's not been thru the normal route to the england squad.. he travelled around, not sure where he was funded from, i'm fairly certain he didn't do his formative years in any of the england junior squads. Privately coached abroad, trained abroad, travlled to competitions by other means.

Unfortunately - plagued by back problems since he was 18/19.. i look forward to seeing him at the nationals this year to see what progress he's made..

interesting attitude tho.. especially when he doesn't think he can lose.. in fact - the rally point system wouldn't support him at all.. when he's winning comfortably he's quite happy to waste his serve doing clever stuff and trying things out, and simply take his opponents serve off them.. very very confident..

i hope he really fills all his potential

    A Little updating scores:

Xia Xuan Ze won 2 sets against Andrew Smith : 15:10 15:4
This event and German Open probably his last chance to show LYB that he still can play. His likely to be opponent in R16 will be Hafiz. Exciting match!

    Wong Mew Cho VS Firdasari : 4:11 11:2 11:6
And when we just a little happy when Firda got the Sea Games gold medal for women singles, she lost to WMC who she beaten in Sea Games. :(

Lee Jae Jin/Jung Te Kuk lost to Yoo Yeon Seong/Kong Mye Won : 11:15 11:15
Probably Lee had to pair again with his old partner.

Most of the seeded players move to second round.

Ya he is interesting... guess he can be very careless, whos not when they are leading? :p
But he is definatly better than Nicholas Kidd in my opinion!

Living in Aus have seen Andrew Smith play a fair bit recently as he is pretty much constantly (??) in NZ & on the oceania tour. He can be on and off but when he is on watch out. Played best I have seen him play in 3 years at the Aus Intl.. was on fire, beat Rony Agustinus in Semis in straight and went on to win the title pretty easily. Can be a very explosive player.

    errr..
    not sure about this one..

i always thought he looked like a space alien - but i've only seem him stomping around the Velodrome between matches at the nationals with his massive headphones on..

he looks sooooo thin - sort of LCW thin..
    nothing too him..
