that's ginormous....

love the generous spacing between courts and the bench for patrons to rest. looks awesome!

The players in Calgary are proud of their new badminton facility! You should see the fantastic support they gave in making SBC grand opening a successful event. Kwun, plan a trip there and enjoy the facility yourself. I heard the BC group is planning a trip there. You can check with madbad.

Oh man, the sight of nylon birds . . . yikes . . .

Most players hit the feathers than the cock, so if goose feather shuttles are used, I am sure the animal lovers will protest given the large flocks of goose being sacrificed. So, the pro like you stay with feathers and the not so pro stay with plastic, win-win. I play both...LOL

I played at Sunridge on a invitation a few weeks ago, very good facility. Interestingly, I was told by a playing friend there is another court in Okotoks (near Calgary) with a similar court surface. He is a very good player, and he sprained his knees the very first game. Next time, he was out 4 months recuperating, the reason was the surface unlike parquet or hardwood flooring where you can slide, it grips you and he twisted his knee. So, if a player has been playing on hard surfaces, switching over to this rubber mat surfaces need some adjusting. But I like it, far less strain on the knees, just need to get used to it. I also can see a lot of familiar faces in the pictures.

I saw a couple of familiar faces in the CTV clip. The place looks amazing!

Richard will be back in Vancouver in mid-Aug so I will see when will be a good time to make the road-trip. Maybe we can do a BC Vancouver v Calgary fun match. Will be nice to meet our Calgary BC group. Where is cooler BTW?

I know what you mean by switching the surfaces. I too had some adjustments to make from wooden floors (community centres) to the pro mats. Once you get used to it, and it didn't take long, you'll never go back to the wooden surface. I reckon I saved a few years on my knees and ankles from playing on the mats.

These days baddy for me is to get a good sweat, have a good time socializing with friends, going out to late supper after the game, playing with friends at my level which would mean a great game, of course playing XD with my wife which is the best workout as I have to cover the damn court for her:D:p...gone are those days in MAS when I was then young and good looking:D:p and played this game competitively in our kampung leaque.:D These days I resigned to playing on hard wood, plastic and feathers alike, at our church and at the YMCA where I was a member for the past 10 years. I already paid to use these 2 facilities playing 4-5 times a week, so as good as Sunridge is, I give it a pass. If you are in Calgary, give me a call, we can have a game and you can give this old fella 10-pt handicap and beat the heck out of me;)
